Im currently awaiting trial, I consulted other lawyers before russel and none were willing to really fight for me. Hes been the light at the end of my tunnel and i feel real positive having him on my side. Hes helped in keeping my family together in this dark time. Y siempre nos hablo con la verdad, nos dijo que de 3 a 4 meses se resolvería el caso de mi esposo y así fue, en 4 meses mi espos...o ya estaba en casa. My son was living in another state when he was charged with first degree murder for a crime that had been committed over a decade ago here in California. As soon as I found out about the arrest I made arrangements to take a plane out the next afternoon. As soon as I made my plane reservation I went... on line to find an attorney to potentially represent my son. I needed someone who specialized in homicide. Our family had no prior experience with the legal system as it pertains to criminal defense. I had no idea what to expect or what to do first. Being that it was after normal office hours I left messages with two attorneys. Within minutes, attorney, Russell Babcock returned my call. I briefly explained the reason for my call. He set a meeting for the next morning so I could meet with him and still make my flight in the early afternoon. At our meeting I explained everything I knew about the case. He told me about himself and his experience as well as explaining the process and the sequence of events that would take place. Mr. Babcock was in constant contact with me while I was away, giving me guidance and answering questions I had. He emailed a Power of Attorney form for the state my son was living in and helped me navigate through the process. Once I returned back home I did extensive research on several attorneys. The charges against my son were serious and had the potential of a life sentence conviction so it was critical that we pick the right person. I enlisted the help of three family members and my son's best friend to help me research potential representation. We read everything we could find on several San Diego attorneys who specialized in homicide. I personally interviewed eight attorneys. Ultimately we agreed on Russell Babcock. At the time Mr. Babcock was hired, he gave me a set price to handle the case. He informed me about extra expenses that could potentially come up, depending on how the case progressed. During the course of my son’s case, Mr. Babcock contacted me on a weekly basis, some weeks I heard from him multiple times. Every time there was new information he emailed or called. We met several times initially while he was gathering information and putting the case together. He went to the jail many, many times to visit my son. I can truly say he took a personal interest in my son and in the case. I believe he represented my son the same way he would represent his own family member. Every claim he made in his profile I found to be true. I believe Mr. Babcock went above and beyond what ANY other attorney would have done. The prosecution was not open to a plea. They wanted a first degree murder conviction. Through weeks and weeks of research, some very impressive Motions and the professionalism and expertise Mr. Babcock presented, the end result was a plea for Manslaughter without Malice. I don’t believe any other attorney would have been able to get the original charge reduced to where it ended up. After going through the last year of the hell our family has gone through, we owe a lot of thanks and gratitude to Mr. Babcock for getting to know my son and seeing him as a person worth fighting for. Not only did Mr. Babcock help my son, but he also guided our family through the ups and downs of the process. His knowledge and caring attitude were invaluable. I believed in the beginning that Mr. Babcock was the right choice. Now I am convinced that he was. I believe with ANY other attorney the conviction would have been catastrophic - a life sentence. I can not say enough good things about Mr. Babcock. He is honest, trustworthy, true to his word and more than anything else, he truly cares.
