Biography

Adam Hepburn is the managing partner of HHJ’s Personal Injury Division, specializing in catastrophic injuries and wrongful death. Just two years after opening his firm, Adam was named a Super Lawyer within the field of personal injury, an award reserved for only the top 2.5% of attorneys in the nation. Adam is responsible for litigating the most complex injury cases, including any case valued over $1 million dollars. Since the firm’s opening in 2018, Adam has successfully recovered millions of dollars for his clients. Adam and his firm were also recently voted the “Best Litigation Firm” by their peers in the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Adam’s interest in the law started when he attended the #1 public university in the world, U.C. Berkeley. Adam’s passion for serving the community led him to the California State Senate, where he assisted a state senator with public policy initiatives and constituent communications. His legislative experience ignited his passion for law, and he soon began working at the court in Oakland, California. After graduating U.C. Berkeley, Adam received a full-tuition merit scholarship to law school in San Diego, California, where his legal career took off.

Adam ranked amongst the top 5% of his class and often obtained the highest grade in his challenging law school courses. In addition to writing for his school’s Law Review, Adam earned his position on the school’s highly decorated Trial Advocacy Team and won many awards and trial competitions across the nation. Due to his trial skills and impressive scholastic abilities, Adam was hand-picked to work with the U.S. Navy JAG Corps in San Diego to help defend military members facing serious criminal charges. Adam also worked with the San Diego Public Defender’s Office where he litigated multiple jury trials with immense success even before he was admitted to the State Bar.

Early in Adam’s practice, he distinguished himself as a highly skilled trial attorney by litigating many trials against both the District Attorney’s Office and City Attorney’s Office with amazing results. Adam’s acquittal and dismissal rate was one of the highest in an office with over 200 attorneys. Wanting to develop his trial skills even further, Adam was hand selected and accepted into one of the most highly regarded trial skills programs in the world, The Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College in Dubois, Wyoming. Adam spent over a month training with the best trial lawyers in the world to perfect his craft. It was during this time that Adam decided to focus his career and talent to fighting against powerful and rich insurance companies trying to take advantage of injured victims.

Adam always strives give back to his community. Adam served on the Board of Directors for The San Diego Freedom Ranch, a non-profit residential treatment program operating in San Diego for over 40 years. Adam also serves as a trial coach at California Western School of Law, where he teaches law students trial skills and trial techniques. Whether fighting in court on behalf of his clients or out in the community volunteering his time and resources, Adam’s passion is to help others and fight for those who have no voice.

My Domestic Violence Case

I was arrested and accused of felony domestic violence, felony assault, felony child endangerment and attempted murder. I was facing a minimum of 12 years in prison. I also had a stay away no contact order towards me. The district attorney was not going to drop the case or let me plead to a lesser c...harge. I thought that was it, I will not see my pregnant wife give birth or my 17-month-old daughter grow up. I got in contact with a qualified domestic violence attorney because domestic violence is a criminal offense and can carry criminal charges. I had so many reservations however, I was put at ease by my criminal defense attorney Adam Hepburn. Within 15 minutes of talking to the Mr. Hepburn, he assured me that he has dealt with many cases like mine and knew exactly what to do. He told me that he had a good working relationship with the prosecutor, who others have characterized as being crazy. Mr. Hepburn was always very quick to respond, made himself available for questions when I had them. He was very easy to get in touch with. Whenever I had a question or a doubt in my mind about my case I could either email or call him. I always got an immediate response clearing my mind of any worry or doubt about my case. I was very candid about what happened, Mr. Hepburn let me know if the domestic violence charge had any staying power. At this phase, it was very important to tell the absolute truth, no matter how it may look. When dealing with the prosecutor Mr. Hepburn was a good negotiator that negotiated aggressively on my behalf and persistent for the best resolution that ultimately led to an excellent conclusion to my case. Mr. Hepburn is an excellent attorney that kept me informed every step of the way. I was enthralled with the way Mr. Hepburn was honest and straight up with me. He was very thorough and competent while handling my case, he always had my best interests in mind. He never missed a scheduled meeting and he always took my calls. What I especially liked about Mr. Hepburn was his ability to remain calm in some crisis situations which happened in the courtroom. I owe Mr. Hepburn a debt of gratitude for his service. He is a solid lawyer who practices nothing but the best customer service methods. Mr. Hepburn was able to get everything that we asked the judge for even with the objections of the district attorney. I will not spend a day in prison, the stay away no-contact order was dropped. The attempted murder charge was dropped, and the felony charges were also dropped. I would not have a problem recommending Mr. Hepburn to family and friends. I collected enough of his business cards to give to anyone that needs a criminal defense attorney.
