Attorney Dan Epperly represents injured workers and the dependents of persons killed at work before the California Workers Compensation Appeals Board. Dan is honored to represent Fire-Fighters, Peace Officers, and their Survivors throughout the State of California. We also represent civilian workers primarily in Central and Southern California on a case-by-case basis (especially if you have prior military service). Dan earned his Juris Doctor “with distinction” from San Joaquin College of Law. His first attorney job was defending Employers, Third-Party Administrators, and Insurance companies in workers compensation claims. Dan knows first-hand how unfairly some employers, claims adjusters, and defense attorneys treat injured workers. Dan actually hated that job, feeling it was wrong to cheat people out of benefits rather than helping them. For several years now, Dan has zealously represented injured workers, he does not represent any employers, he is a proud member of the California Applicants’ Attorneys Association, and is recognized as a Certified Specialist in Workers' Compensation Law by the California Board of Legal Specialization.

California Public Safety and Correctional/Probation Personnel are entitled to a number of legal presumptions, most notably: Heart Trouble, Cancer, Hernia, Blood-Borne Pathogens, and the “Duty-Belt” Presumption. (Lab. C. § 3212 et. seq.) Entitlement to these presumptions vary depending upon your job classification and the particular presumption involved. Litigation of Public Safety cases is a highly technical, specialized field. It is recommended that Public Safety Personnel consult with an Attorney, such as Dan Epperly, who is knowledgeable of the interaction between Workers’ Compensation, Disability Retirements, and the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA). Dan recommends that all California Public Safety/Correctional Personnel call us three months prior to their anticipated retirement date or any point they suffer a serious injury to explore all options including the filing of a comprehensive Workers’ Compensation claim.
