Andrew Blair Leventhal

I am currently being vetted by the State Bar of California, and I unfortunately committed 2 criminal offenses in my past (DUIs). I was still on summary probation, and was advised that if I were to petition the court to terminate probation early, then I could possibly get the case dismissed (expunged...). This would hopefully show good graces with the Bar investigation. I hired Andrew to represent me at the hearing. I was able to file the paperwork myself beforehand, and he agreed to "argue his heart out" for me at the hearing. At the first hearing date, the hearing was continued, and, wanting to stay in the judges good graces, he strategically continued it to a convenient day for the court. Fast forward to our court day... aside from wearing a very snazzy suit, he came in ready to work for me, and advocate for me. "Give me a few minutes to do my thing..." he said before the hearing. What he meant was, let me review the court file to see what I can use to "impress" the Judge and bolster your chances of getting the judge to decide in your favor. At the outset, we were being extremely hard pressed by the City attorney who had absolutely no sympathy for me. But, Andrew kept his word.. He argued his heart out!!! You know something good is coming when you hear the Judge in Van Nuys Courthouse say, "I don't normally grant these but..." BOOM! He got the job done for me... In all seriousness, its not difficult to tell when someone has a passion for what they do, and a genuine care for helping a client. Time will tell when I become an attorney, but seeing Andrew in action was beyond inspiring. Do yourself a favor and have a conversation with him about your case, and I guarantee you will see how passionate he is about his job. That's what gets him results, and that's what got my case dismissed. All I can say is thank you... and I owe you one ;-)

Andrew Leventhal is the best attorney ever. He worked on a felony case for my brother and got it completely dropped. This case could have completely ruined my brother's life had we not hired this attorney. He walks into the courtroom like superman and literally saves the day. Andrew Leventhal is the best attorney in the entire world, not just the state of California. I met him when he was in public defense; he had been appointed to my case. I was worried about who I would have, as well as the entire process since court is scary for someone who had never been in trouble be...fore and my case really shouldn't have existed in the first place. I was sitting in the court room, bawling non-stop, when this handsome face came up and gently said to me, "Katie? I'm your lawyer." with a smile on his face. I have heard horror stories about public defenders being bitter and not caring, but something about this particular attorney made me feel better. Without going into too much detail, I will say that he went above and beyond the call of duty for me and somehow got my entire case dismissed before my third court date could even happen. Outside of my case, he was the first person to see the horrible situation I was in without any kind of filter; he urged me to leave and even arranged for some help if I wanted to take it. As I write this review, tears come to my eyes because I know I might not be here today if it hadn't been for Andrew Leventhal. Over two years later, he still cares about how I'm doing and still answers my legal questions. He genuinely cares about his clients, which goes a long way! If he did all of that for me as a public defense attorney, it just speaks volumes about the kind of person he is. I HIGHLY recommend him!

Mr. Leventhal handled my serious criminal matter. The prosecution accused me of committing a crime for the benefit of a gang. I was never and would never be in a gang but I did in fact commit the crime. I just did not do anything for a gang. Mr. Leventhal filed counteless motions. He explaine...d them to me thoroughly. He won all, but one, of these motions and the prosecutor said she could no longer proceed while we were in the middle of picking a jury. Then Mr. Leventhal flat out got the judge to dismiss my case. The prosecutor kept offering me deals and they got better and better as we moved into jury trial. I really wanted to take the prosecution's offer right before trial - the prosecutor was going to dismiss the gang allegations, dismiss the vandalism that I was accused of and give me a disturbing the peace ticket. Andrew explained to me that he ordinarily would never tell a client to reject a disturbing the peace, infraction, but he told me to have faith and trust in him. He kept telling me to be patient and that he knew the prosecutor was not going to be able to proceed. Andrew told me to trust him, to reject an infraction offer and keep fighting for that dismissal. He promised me. He also stressed that my rights were violated and that I may have a lawsuit against the government for violating my rights. He also explained to me that if I pled guilty to even a ticket, then I may lose my ability to get paid in a civil suit after my criminal case was done. I trusted him and I am so thankful I did because he was right. There is just something about this Andrew that made me feel comfortable at ease and that he was telling me the truth. Man, does Andrew have a lot of confidence. I still can't believe he got my entire gang case dismissed. Now I want to turn my life around and do the right thing and I owe it to Andrew. Andrew is the only lawyer who will make you a promise. How often to doctors or lawyers actually promise something? Andrew promised me that we would get our dismissal and promised me that if I trusted him and did what he asked of me, that everything would work out. He didn't know this, but I trusted him from day one. And, Andrew is a public defender ... it is very tough from my experience going through the system to get a public defender that I felt I could trust from day one. I wish Andrew was in private practice because he could help so many more people who could afford to pay for him. If you get Andrew as a public defender, then you are the luckiest defendant in the world. God is watching over you if you happen to get Andrew as your public defender. But that is all by chance if you go with the public defender. I just love this guy. He is a real human being and he even calls me now, just to check up on me, even though my case is over. Who does that? What public defender does that? What lawyer does that? Andrew Leventhal is the best lawyer I have ever seen and I have been through the system let's just say more than once. If Andrew ever goes private, and you are in trouble, you should hire this man. It will be worth it. Otherwise, pray that he is your public defender. Andrew is just brilliant, compassionate, trustworthy, charismatic and a great trial lawyer, not to mention a really great human being. I highly highly recommend him, if you can get him. He is fearless.

I have been practicing law in California since 1978. My practice is principally in the areas of business transactions and probate. However, I recently had the opportunity to observe the work of Andrew Leventhal. He represented a family friend in a criminal matter. His work was impressive as he ha...d a mastery of the court room.
