A few months ago, I filed a claim with my employer about the hostile environment at the workplace. We have had incidents where a manager was physically assaulting the employees and nothing extreme enough was being done about it. He is still working for the company and I was worried about my safety a...s I interface with the manager everyday. Recently, the company has asked me to take on more responsibilities that were not within my scope. These new roles are completely different from my current job title and I would fail the assigned tasks due to the lack of experience. It felt like the company wanted me to fail to push me out of the company. Last week, there was an incident in my department that was not caused by team and then the Director of HR suddenly contacted me to schedule a meeting the following day. I started to feel as though they were going to terminate my contract with the company and that's when I contacted David Lee for advice. David Lee advised that I needed to document the claim I made about my safety from the violent manager. Since I didn't have any documentation of the claim, I was advised to write an email to the HR representative summarizing in detail our meeting topics and notes. I did and HR acknowledged the email, but advised me that the meeting was about a different topic. Now I have documentation proving I filed a safety claim with HR. On the day of the meeting with the Director of HR, nothing was mentioned regarding the $200k mistake and instead HR wanted to change my roles and responsibilities. I thanked the director for thinking so highly of my skill set, but I politely declined the new roles and responsibilities stating that it is not within my wheelhouse or expertise. I am certain that writing the email and documenting the claim with HR had something to do with the meeting topic being changed. A $200k mistake is not taken lightly in any industry and usually someone is used as a scapegoat for the mistake. Thanks to David Lee's advice, I still have a job and HR will have to step carefully before terminating my position. I am going to recommend David Lee to my other colleagues, family and friends. He is very knowledgeable about the labor laws and employee rights in California. I am extremely satisfied with his consultation and if I get terminated - I will hire him as my lawyer.
