I contacted Sean to be my consulting attorney through a divorce mediation. From first contact through to the final draft of the judgement ( a process that took a little over a year), he was helpful, supportive and took his time to make sure that i understand what my rights were under California law.... I consulted with Sean before and after each meeting with the mediator and my ex-husband. There were positive sessions and there were rough sessions, and Sean kept me on track through both, going over my legal rights with me, reviewing changes to the judgement document and most importantly being a solid and calm presence through a very difficult process. I was very impressed with Sean's understanding of CA divorce law, he had quick and accurate answers to the questions that arose and if he didn't have immediate knowledge of an issue, he researched the question and returned with a response in a very timely manner. But the thing that impressed me the most about Sean was his willingness to just 'dive in' to the issues that arose. My mediation was complicated - it involved community property issues relating to stock option incentives, retirement plans and pension accounts - there were times when I was too quick to agree to changes during the negotiation but Sean was always ready to dive into the minutiae of the numbers to help me understand the long term effects of each decision. I hired Sean Sobottka to assist in the establishment of a child support order. I had been trying on my own to establish an order for child support for over a year when I contacted Mr. Sobottka. It was a very difficult case. My ex left when I was 8 months pregnant and fled to California. I was living ...in Ohio supporting my daughter on my own. The entire time my ex was playing games to avoid the establishment of a child support order and misrepresenting his income. Sean was fantastic in his search for documents to prove my ex's income. It took a little over a year working with Sean to establish a court order. Sean was able to prove that my ex was making more money than he stated in court. I was shocked by the judges decision. I thought the amount of back child support would only be a few thousand. I was awarded $16,000 in back child support and a very solid order. I am extremely happy! I would NEVER have gotten that order relying on the CSEA to represent me. They didn't seem to care about my case at all. Sean's representation was essential in my case. I appeared by phone for all of the hearings because I couldn't afford to fly out for any of the court dates. So, it was important that someone was there in person to represent my best interests. Sean kept me in the loop the entire time. I would highly recommend Sean!
