We had to open an ancillary probate in Nevada to sell some property out of state. Crest, and Kirk Kaplan specifically, came recommended to me from our real estate agent. By American standards I am a "Non-Resident-Alien". This status entails complexities that not too many U.S. lawyers are familiar with. My father (79 yrs old) lived in Vegas w/his wife who passed away suddenly; my father moved back to East Coast. Main concerns were potential need for probate, a residential property, and the need to get financial/legal matters settled. I searched for an attorney - and checked NV Bar Association, AVVO,... and links to other sites. Kirk Kaplan was one of the names that came up w/ great reviews, to include from his peers. I also read how wonderful "Veronica" was. The selling point has his firm having in-house accountant/tax professionals on staff. I felt overwhelmed and my dad and I knew we needed help to navigate through the process. I contacted Mr. Kaplan's office (Crest Key Law Partners) and spoke with Veronica who listened, was understanding of the situation, and set up an appointment for a consultation the following week. Veronica, you are amazing! I inquired of cost and the best way to convey money for the consultation. Veronica stated that the 30 minute consultation would be at no cost. WOW. During the consultation, Mr. Kaplan was very patient, listened and provided guidance on what would require probate (potentially the property) and options on dealing with the property (deed-in-lieu of foreclosure, short sale, etc.), and which would in fact require an attorney's services. He took the time to explain in layman terms and answered any questions we had. Mr. Kaplan quoted us a flat fee cost if in fact he was to assist us in the probate process. VERY REASONABLE. He stated he could take care of everything from start to finish and thus not require my dad and I to travel back and forth to NV; saving us a lot of additional expense. Based on Mr. Kaplan's recommendations and options available to my dad to handle the property, we may not need Mr. Kaplan's services. But if Plan A doesn't work out and we have to go to Plan B, I will be calling Mr. Kaplan. I can't express enough my gratitude for Mr. Kaplan's time and guidance. I cannot rave enough about the service our family received from Mr. Kaplan and the staff at Crest Key and Associates. In December of 2014 my mother was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer and the cancer became terminal around January 2016. As my mother was attempting to get her affairs in order and sell ...her house in Las Vegas, the title company refused to clear the title. We searched probate Attorneys on AVVO which is where we found Mr. Kaplan’s information. We contacted Mr. Kaplan and within a few minutes he had things moving. He pulled the title to the house, identified the issues and developed a plan before receiving any money! I have NEVER had a lawyer examine an issue, take the time to pull records, review those records, then tell us all of our options, before receiving a retainer. But this doesn’t end there Just as the house title was clear probate and filed in her name, my mother’s illness took her from us before she could even think of selling her house. Kirk and his staff were so helpful and understanding of things. They presented us with options to quickly transfer the house to her heirs (3 of us) so that we could honor my mother’s wishes and intentions to sell her house. Further, he gave us a HUGE DISCOUNT! We easily saved over a thousand dollars keeping our probate with him and Crest Key and Associates. The staff are so professional and courteous, we always had quick replies and resolution to problems as they arose. You won’t find a better probate attorney in Las Vegas!
