About Edina

Learn Edina’s areas of practice.

Edina is a Tucson native, a University of Arizona Alumna, and has been in practice since 2002 and with The McCarthy Law Firm since 2009. Edina practices exclusively in the area of family law and is a State-Bar Certified Family Law Specialist.

Edina’s objective in all of her cases is to help her clients move through the emotionally turbulent process of re arranging their family dynamics with as much grace, dignity and respect as possible.

While Edina practices traditional family law (litigation), she is also well-versed in the Collaborative Divorce Method (), and is a trained mediator. With this depth of training and experience, Edina can help identify the path that is best suited to your unique circumstances since no two cases or families are exactly alike, and every client deserves and receives personalized attention.

Edina’s passion is in ensuring healthy, strong families post-separation, and, therefore, she concentrates a substantial portion of her practice in the area of children’s issues (legal decision making, parenting time, child support, relocation) although Edina also handles the full range of dissolution of marriage and financial issues (spousal maintenance, retirement division, asset/debt division). Edina also serves on as a Parenting Coordinator, Best Interests Attorney and Child’s Attorney.

Edina’s community involvement includes the following: past volunteer with the Volunteer Lawyers Program, a member of the World Care Board of Directors for several years, and member of Tucson Sunrise Rotary from 2003-2009. Currently Edina is a financial supporter of Step Up 2 Justice and volunteers with Ben’s Bells.

Edina’s professional endeavors include developing and presenting (with colleagues) multiple Continuing Legal Education seminars for the Arizona State Bar, Arizona Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AzAFCC), and the Pima County Bar.

Outside the law, Edina regularly practices yoga, enjoys hiking, winter sports, travel, and is an animal-lover who is often found in the company of her Australian Shepherd, Bailey.

I highly recommend Edina if you are about to navigate a separation or divorce. Divorce is one of the worst events a person will suffer in their life, especially if the other person is an ill-intentioned, nasty, jealous, empty or narcissistic creature. Edina is intelligent, accurate, careful, caring, very knowledgeable about the law and the divorce process. She will articulate carefully, thoughtfully and provide you all you need to know, calmly guiding you to get to the end as effectively and efficiently as possible.

Superior Family Attorney
Edina Strum and the McCarthy Law Firm were the perfect fit for our situation. Edina was very methodical and paid attention to the requisite details, yet she was also focused on the bigger picture and getting to an arrangement and a settlement that was fair and balanced. Edina has mastered the art of supporting her client's best interests, including appropriately challenging her client's approach or thought process when necessary to reach an optimal outcome.

Saved my daughter and My relationship.
I cannot praise Edina and her team highly enough. She took the time to really get to know me and my family situation. Ms. Strum went above and beyond. Helping me get access to my daughter again and over the course of our case she helped me earn equal parenting time. She stood up for me against an obtrusive and angry ex who tried to deny me any rights. She stood up for me with the courts, respectfully but powerfully showing them what type of man I am and why they should consider more time for my daughter and I. If you want a lawyer who knows the law, fights for her clients and the best interest of the family and who will actually beat you. Ms. Edina Strum is your best bet. The team at the McCarthy law firm is amazing. Gina was a wealth of help as a paralegal and helping me understand what the heck was actually going on. I hope I never see the inside of a family law court room again. But if I do. I pray Edina is by my side.

Excellent representation
Ive worked w Edina for 9 years re many very challenging complicated issue that involved children and substantial financial matters. Ive found her demeanor to be excellent; her undstanding of the law and its impact on my family very comprehensive; and her recommendation are extremely fair. Eventhough she has many clients she has always made herself available and have always felt as though I was her priority. Though I hope to not be faced w added legal issues I would, without reservation, want Edina to represent me and my family’s interests in the future.

Great Attorney
Edina has been my attorney since 2014. Edina has guided me through some very turbulent times always with a steady hand never allowing me to give into anger or over reach in my litigation proceedings. In my time with Edina she has worked against numerous lawyers on my behalf and has always handled herself with dignity and respect while keeping my wishes at the forefront. Edina is always weighing my options and keeping me realistic in divorce and child custody proceedings that can get heated and overwhelming. Edina has worked for me in bargaining proceedings with attorneys and in court against attorneys in both arenas she has done an outstanding job. Edina also has a pleasurable staff to work with from Dana at the front desk to Gina, the main assistant I have worked with over the years, they always treat you like you are their number priority. I would highly recommend Edina to anyone and have.

Fair, smart, and balanced-a real Lifesaver
Edina has been my attorney for more than 7 years and I can state unequivocally that she is among the finest people that I know. Divorce is a messy business and Edina's cool, rationale, demeanor throughout the process made it tolerable, and ensured a fair and equitable division. Perhaps more impressive to me is her unwavering commitment to the well-being of my children throughout the years; she has advocated for and supported efforts to ensure that their emotional and physical health is a prime issue. Truly this is the "family" in Family Law? Professionally, I found Edina to be relentlessly well-prepared and thoroughly organized-this is a real asset when you go to court. I never walked out of a courtroom feeling that I was under-represented or that things could have been handled better. Edina is supported by an outstanding staff of compassionate, empathetic professionals at the McCarthy Law Firm who made (make) me feel valued and trusted as a client. I recommend Edina Strum highly, and without reservation.

Couldn't recommend highly enough
I found Ms. Strum to be very focused on fairness and collaborative solutions, but when that didn't work, she was a fierce litigator for my case, but not obnoxiously aggressive. She stuck to the facts and was impressively sharp in court. My case was complex and involved other attorneys in other states and Ms. Strum worked well with them to ensure the best possible outcome. I'm embarrassed to admit there were a few times my anger got the better of me and I was unwilling to compromise, but Ms. Strum reminded me to weigh the risk vs reward and always keep my focus on my children. I'm honestly, truly forever grateful for the work she did for me and the style in which she approached it.
