Excellent Attorney

James Bruce helped make my divorce go as smoothly as it could. He was very professional while having to work with an uncooperative EX. James explained to me everything I needed to know, every step of the way. He asked a lot of questions, and gave me options. James is a nice man, and I'm glad I had hi...m working for me, to get a fair settlement.

Purposely Led Down The WRONG Path - Just a Number

I, under no circumstances, would refer this attorney to anyone! I came to him with an offer from my soon to be ex husband and simply asked him to review the proposed terms that him and I had had come up with together and talk to me about what was fair. I had been married for 18 years and I was very... uncertain as to what I should expect to be a realistic in terms of a divorce and I just wanted someone to shoot me straight. I had been a stay at mom through out most of the marriage (with a some attempts to finish college along the way). When I went to him, he read over the documents and basically looked at me, scoffed, and directly asked me if that was "all I was being offered"? He then proceeded to lay out new terms that had much higher demands. When he asked me what it was that I was wanting out of the divorce...I stated that I wanted things to be fair and that I was just not sure what that looked like. I told him that my ex and I were still mostly friends but that I just needed a little counsel. I felt like he basically saw me as a number and saw that my ex made a significant amount of money and decided to say whatever he needed to so that I would sign him on. He never mentioned that he was going in to have a surgery done within a month and that he would't even be working directly on my case and we would be postponing it. This was all new information at the first court appearance! I was frustrated to say the least. In addition, once we did finally get back in the court room (after his surgery), he had very little to say and did very little defending. He allowed things to happen and take place in the court room that never should have happened. I was so unhappy with the way things were going and his nonchalant manner towards my case in general. After he allowed needless things to happen that dwindled the retainer I put down, he wanted another retainer. There was no way I had the money for that. It had taken me months to save up for the first one. Even though my ex made a decent amount of money, we had been separated for two years and I did not have access to that money. I could have borrowed the money to retain him but decided that it was not worth it. I found a new attorney that I am currently very happy with. Its just too bad that by going through Jim Bruce initially, caused so much turmoil and stress with my ex and I that we are still on horrible terms still to this day. It has made this past year horrible for my children as they have seen how angry and vindictive their father has become due to the interactions I had with this attorney.

Thank You Mr Bruce

My divorce was messy and painful and I was barely keeping it together. Mr Bruce kept us (and me) focused and moving forward. I could not have gotten through any of it alone, let do so and have anything to show for it. To start over with 4 kids, 2 of them being newborns, is incredibly hard. Mr Bruce h...elped make sure I had a foundation on which to start building from!

Recommendation for James Bruce

Mr. James Bruce exhibited nothing short of professionalism with my case. He always had my best interest and made sure that any decision made was to my complete satisfaction. Mr. Bruce was very thorough and made certain that all pertinent questions and inquires were uncovered and answered completely... and accurately. I strongly recommend to consider Mr. Bruce as one of your choices for representation. I guarantee you will not be disappointed!

Not what I thought

Not organized and made couple of errors in my documents. I felt he could have fought stronger against the other lawyer and instead spoke very little in court. I would not recommend this lawyer to assist in a custody case that has little importance to him.
