Josh is one of the few attorneys in the nation with a family-focused mental healthcare practice, helping to guide families through the complex maze of legal issues that affect loved ones with serious mental illness and/or substance abuse issues. He provides counsel on civil commitment, guardianship, special needs estate planning, and consultation on navigating the mental health system.
He also represents hospitals, behavioral health providers, and clinicians, regularly providing counsel on capacity, HIPAA, civil commitment, interaction with law enforcement, end-of-life decision making, and advance directives. In addition, he represents mental health and healthcare professionals in disciplinary proceedings.
For four years after earning his undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona, Josh worked in Maricopa County's public mental health system. Before and during law school, Josh worked nights at Maricopa County's crisis line, the Crisis Response Network.
In his spare time, Josh enjoys traveling, hiking, and spending time with his wife and family.

"Josh is the unqualified expert in the Phoenix area in the field of mental health care. He is universally respected in the field, and takes time to educate the legal community with regards to important issues that may affect our clients as they age or become incapacitated. Josh is my “go to” attorney in this area, and he has personally helped a handful of my clients navigate a complex area of law. In addition, he is an excellent estate planner and litigator (when cases require it). As a friend and colleague, I cannot recommend Josh more."
"I endorse this lawyer. He is highly qualified in the fields he practices. Additionally, he is demonstrates great empathy for both his clients and their families. I would recommend him to both family and friends if they were in need of an attorney who practices in his areas."
"I worked with Josh as opposing counsel on a recent litigation case. He was incredibly knowledgeable of the laws and issues we were dealing with. He was always responsive, candid and friendly as well. It was enjoyable to be able to work so well with opposing counsel. while both still representing our clients' best interests. I look forward to working with him again!"
"I have had the pleasure of getting to know Josh in the small world of elder law/probate practice in Phoenix. He is well regarded by his peers, and well-respected by the bench. I've always found Josh to be hard-working, thoughtful, and very responsive. Additionally, his demeanor and temperament are second-to-none. Any client would be lucky to have Josh as their lawyer."
"I highly recommend Josh. He is an experienced, intelligent, and highly capable attorney. I had the experience of working collaboratively with Josh on a Guardianship and Conservatorship matter for a mutual client. Though the issues were complex and the circumstances urgent, Josh has a calm, comforting and intelligent way of working, and we were able to get the matter resolved expediently and correctly. I have no hesitations at all in highly recommending him."
"In my opinion, there is no better lawyer in Phoenix for matters involving public or private mental health facilities or cases involving the treatment of serious mental illness. Josh brings invaluable real world experience to his cases by drawing on his prior career in the mental health arena. In addition, although yet a young lawyer, Josh has benefited immensely from working with other excellent lawyers at Frazer, Ryan, Goldberg & Arnold and, in particular, from his close apprenticeship beside living Arizona legal legend, Chick Arnold. I have had the pleasure of working alongside Josh as co-counsel in multiple cases involving mental health treatment. Josh is a pleasure to work with: he's sharp, hardworking, organized, responsive, and thoughtful. I also refer cases involving mental health, probate, and estate planning to Josh whenever I encounter them and I always have total confidence in the referral. On top of all that, Josh is a great guy; really down to earth."
"I have had the opportunity to work with Josh on several occasions. His knowledge of the law and passion for helping others is what is most noteworthy. I would highly recommend Josh Mozell to any prospective client."
"I have worked with Josh on several cases, and have always been impressed by his legal skill set as well as his ability to relate to clients. Moreover, I have sent numerous referrals his way, and have always received positive feedback from the clients regarding their experience. In my opinion, Josh is an emerging star in his field of law."
