It's been a while, but it's probably worth sharing my experience with Marilyn. Better late than never. I went through my divorce back in 08. I hired Marilyn, who told me to put an order on my (now) x wife, because I told her she had punched me in the face on multiple occasions and pulled a gun on ...me once. When I returned to Marilyn's office to read what they had drawn up, I wouldn't sign it because it wasn't truthful. There were things added I had never mentioned. I had to pay Marilyn more money to have her assistant Grant change things back the way I originally said it happened... We ended up at the old 4th District Court and as a group of us were sitting in a waiting room before court, Marilyn asked everyone to leave the room except me. She then told me to lie in court and when I told her I wouldn't, she told me I was "too difficult to work with" and basically dumped me right before court. The order was dropped and I was left with a massive bill, over $10k. Anyway, her and Ron Wilkinson, my x wife's attorney, were a couple of mud slingers who clearly only cared about getting paid and doing the right thing. I would never recommend either of those two, unless you're into that bs.

Marilyn was recommended as a good divorce attorney. However, I would look elsewhere unless you prefer excessive fees, no or poor communication and an attorney looking out for their own interests over yours. I felt intimidated and pressured to sign the final divorce decree which I verbally told her ...I didn't feel right about. And she continued to send me documents to sign which after I reviewed were either full of errors or would hurt my position further. Even after bringing up the errors, she would send back the documents still in error. She is not attentive, glosses over issues you may have and undermines your concerns.

I was ending an almost 30 year marriage to a man who was abusive, manipulative and controlling. It was a really scary process since I was concerned about his reaction. I asked many people who is the best divorce attorney in the area and every time the answer was Marilyn Moody Brown! Marilyn wa...s wonderful and in addition to the outstanding legal expertise Marilyn provided emotional support and encouragement as well. She fought for me on every point. I got the house, the car I wanted, and my prized collectibles among other things. My ex and his lawyer tried to push me around and take advantage but Marilyn was 100% on my side and kept my interests protected. During our 16 hour marathon mediation, there were times I was an emotional wreck, but Marilyn helped keep my spirits up and offered incredible emotional support. She put a stop to the negotiation when she saw I was in need of a break. Marilyn said one thing to me that day that was life changing. "I've always known that he didn't deserve you, but as I see how he operates I know that you don't deserve him!" As I move forward and get on my post divorce life I'll remember these powerful words from Marilyn and not settle for another manipulative man, because she helped me see that I truly do deserve a companion who will respect and cherish me for the person I am. I cannot recommend Marilyn Moody Brown highly enough.
