I also heard they Marilyn was a great attorney. I was married for about 28 years, was hoping I would get at least 28% of my ex’s half million dollar a year income, I didn’t. I helped put him through phd school, stayed home with the kids while he was out of town alll the time and took care of EVERYTH...ING! I did the acre of yard work by my self, was the one who cleaned the garage and had no maid for a 5,000 sq ft home. When I said I did everything I mean it. But, I guess I was not worth 28%. She did not put in the decree his documentation of some the percent of the alimony I am suppose to get so now I just have to take his word on my portion, so frustrating obviously he is not an honest person. He purchased a brand new bmw 2 weeks after the divorce, had plastic surgery, has been on multiple vacations and is building a big brand new home while I am trying to keep my bills paid and flip credit cards to gets points everywhere to be able to take my kids on vacations. I am older, have no skills due to being a stay at home mom and taking care of our family, so I am unable to get a decent job. Marilyn is a nice person but, I don’t feel like I got what I should have. I also feel like if we would have met and had a plan before mediation it many have worked out better. She made me feel like I was already a winner going into mediation but, did. It feel like one after.

I was terrified of my ex, because he was trying to manipulate me in every possible way. Our marriage was dysfunctional. I asked around for referrals for a divorce lawyer and Marilyn’s name came up. I called right away and was scheduled in. I just felt good about it. It was only after I hired her that... I heard she was the most intimidating and honest attorney in Utah. She knows what she’s doing and strives to be fair and reasonable. But she takes no BS. My ex tried to take our kids, tried to say I was mentally unstable, and tried every way possible to get out of child support. He’s still trying, over a year later. :) I was an emotional wreck and Marilyn was there for me, every step of the way. When, during mediation, my ex brought up for the first time that he thought I was too “mentally ill” to have our kids, I started panicking. She held my hand and told me firmly that she would never let that happen to me. I relaxed, and for the rest of our mediation, I calmly watched her SLAY the competition. She did not back down. I ended up getting more than I thought I’d ever win. To the point where I actually felt bad for my ex. I expressed this to her and she told me that what we’d won was fair, and that I was going to need it. She was right, and I still consider hiring her as the best thing I could have done during my divorce.

I had the opportunity to have Marylyn as my attorney, and she was the best thing that happened to me during a very stressful time.  She did a marvelous job in my case. She was very confident in negotiating with the opposing attorney, and never once did she back down in our position.  During the divor...ce process my X was extremely difficult, at one point even making threats against me; and Marilyn had the wisdom to file for a restrain against him.  That action made all the difference in the world, and brought me so much peace in a very difficult process. She took care of the entire divorce in a short period of time and was very reasonably priced. I am so very thankful to Marilyn for her expertise, intelligence and professionalism. Someone referred her to me as a wonderful divorce lawyer, and they were right. I was glad to have the best divorce lawyer in Utah! Since my divorce, I have recommended Marilyn to several friends, because she is honest, hard working, cares about her clients; and more importantly, she will help you obtain the best deal possible. Marilyn was recommended as a good divorce attorney. However, I would look elsewhere unless you prefer excessive fees, no or poor communication and an attorney looking out for their own interests over yours. I felt intimidated and pressured to sign the final divorce decree which I verbally told her ...I didn't feel right about. And she continued to send me documents to sign which after I reviewed were either full of errors or would hurt my position further. Even after bringing up the errors, she would send back the documents still in error. She is not attentive, glosses over issues you may have and undermines your concerns.
