Morally and Ethically compromised individual posing as a professional

Appointed as special master in custody dispute. Glaring conflict of interest: at initial interview she allowed a colleague to interrupt while charging me an hourly rate to discuss, children’s gifts, expensive trips, and how much business they do with opposing council in the case. Disregarded mu...tual and negotiated agreements to pander to opposing counsel demands and ex’s priorities. Recommendations were not made in the interest of children but in that of a lucrative working relationship with OC. Disregarded sound medical science and recommendations in the best interest of my children in making recommendations to parenting plan. Was derelict in her duty and charge to finalize a parenting plan in the interest of delaying a transition to 50/50 custody at the behest of OC. Unresponsive and inconsistent.

I take feedback and ethical concerns very seriously. However, this review does not accurately reflect my practice or my professional role. First, I have not accepted appointments as a special master in custody matters for many years. The circumstances described do not meet the criteria of any special master cases I handled in the past, which raises a genuine question as to whether this review pertains to an actual matter involving me. For that reason, my understanding is that this review may be mistaken or inauthentic. That said, I want to be very clear about my professional standards. I take my role as an attorney extremely seriously. I take meetings with clients seriously, I do not allow inappropriate discussions to occur during billable time, and I do not permit conflicts of interest to influence my work. Any suggestion that my recommendations would be driven by personal relationships, financial incentives, or deference to opposing counsel is inconsistent with my ethics, my professional obligations, and my longstanding reputation. When I have served in court-appointed roles in the past, my work was guided solely by the governing order, applicable law, and the best interests of the children—never by the preferences of one party or counsel. Medical information, expert recommendations, and negotiated agreements are evaluated carefully and independently, and delays or recommendations are never made for improper purposes. I am committed to providing excellent legal services and to ensuring that parties feel heard, respected, and treated fairly, even when outcomes are difficult or disputed. If this review was posted by someone who genuinely believes they were involved in a matter with my office, I encourage them to contact me directly so I can understand and address the concern in good faith. I believe this is a fraudulent review. Integrity, professionalism, and accountability are central to my practice, and I stand by the work I have done and the standards I uphold.

Kristy is the Best

I was in a custody battle for my children for a year and a half. Nothing was happening with the lawyers I was using and they were very expensive. I hired Kristy Hanson to take over very late in the proceedings, I was nervous it might be too late to change lawyers but I needed someone to fight for m...y children, too much was at stake. Kristy jumped right in, she understood the situation, she was available when we needed her, and returned calls promptly even after business hours. Took the time to explain everything. She formed a plan and carried it out. With the previous lawyers I had to constantly check in on them, give them ideas, I felt like I had to tell them everything they should be doing. The only thing you could count on them doing is sending you the bill every month with a follow up call to pay promptly. Kristy was the opposite. She would call me with updates and strategies. In a few short months after I hired her she turned everything around and I got full custody! Kristy is knowledgeable, level headed, she can be as tough as she needs to be and expertly knows how to handle judges and other lawyers. I honestly feel she fought for my children like she was fighting for her own children. Cherry on top, she was significantly less than my previous lawyer. I would highly recommend her.

I have never filed a review online, but the disappointment in Kristy was such that I felt I needed to warn others. Kristy was recommended to me and I was hopeful she would do a good job, even though my impression of her when I accompanied a friend to a consultation was not very good. Here are some of... the complaints I have had: - she never responded to some of my messages despite me asking the question several times - she tried to talk me into a solution that would have cost me $6000 more than what I was already paying, for no need and no reason, trying to bind me through a contract to use her friend rather than someone of my choice to settle an issue. I spent and payed for some 10 minutes to argue with her against the solution she was proposing (which was actually what my ex wanted. Felt like she was representing his interests, not mine). Looking back, I am SO glad I stood my grounds and saved myself those extra $6K. - she made a serious mistake at trial. I didn't know what I was allowed to do, say or not do. The cost of that mistake was $3000. I pointed it out to her explaining that I understood that error was human, but still very costly to me, and she kept arguing about what the judge had asked, in order to justify her answer. Everytime I argued that he did not ask that, she came up with something new that the judge had asked (none of which was correct). When finally confronted with the actual transcript, she argued that that's what the judge "meant" even though that wasn't what he asked at all and made me appear as being in contempt rather than compliant. How dishonest to twist the facts just to save face and get her payment (which I was willing to pay, nonetheless hoping for a small discount). - She brought another attorney to court with her, making me pay for 2 attorneys without letting me know asking for my consent. All the other attorney did was carry her papers. She did agree to remove that charge. - Finally I was never notified by her office of the court date and when my papers had to be turned in. I finally called, only to find out they needed my answer right away!

I am grateful for the opportunity I have to respond to this misleading review. I was retained by this client in 2017 after her ex-spouse filed several claims of contempt against her. The scope and goal of my representation was to defend her against claims she had violated terms of her Decree of Divorce. This client had already gone through a very reputable attorney and I was her second attorney. She claims in her review that I tried to talk her into a solution that would cost her $6,000. As an officer of the court, I am legally required to convey to my clients reasonable offers from opposing counsel. This is exactly what I did in this case and gave her the pros and cons of each side. This client elected to go to court, which we did. She misrepresents that we went to trial. We did not go to trial in her particular case. We had a contempt hearing before the District Court Commissioner. At the hearing, I was able to successfully accomplish the goal of representation, which was to keep her out of contempt. As a result of my arguments in court and the documents I filed prior to court, all of the contempt charges filed against her were ultimately and successfully dismissed. This client claims that I made a mistake in court that cost her $3,000. Somehow, this client believes that she should have been awarded attorney’s fees by the Commissioner and alleges that my statement in court prevented the Commissioner from awarding her attorney’s fees in a contempt action against her. Prior to court, I explained to this client that it is difficult to get attorney’s fees in these situations. This client asked me to make a representation to the court that was not true. She wanted me to make a statement in court that was inconsistent with the facts and inconsistent with the sworn affidavit she signed and filed. I practice law with honesty and integrity. I am a zealous advocate for my clients but will not make false statements to the court. I have gone back and listened to the transcript and I answered the question asked consistent with the affidavit and the truth. If this client wanted an attorney to lie in court, she needed to go a different direction. This review further states that I charged her for bringing another attorney to court. I am well staffed with associate attorneys and paralegals to make sure we have sufficient resources and availability to assist our clients. There were several hours I spent on her case in which I did not charge her. She was not charged for the associate attorney’s time in court. Finally, when this client received her bill, which had been discounted, she refused to pay. She informed me that if I did not write off her bill, she would post a scathing review. She essentially attempted to intimidate me to get out of paying her legitimate legal charges. Those who know me in the legal community know that I will not back down and I will not be intimidated and manipulated. It is unfortunate that this individual can use the internet as a forum to misrepresent the facts and the truth.

I contacted Kristy after several years of 50/50 custody with a very dysfunctional ex. My children were struggling and needed help. Kristy was very careful in her approach with the case and extremely knowledgeable of the laws. The case was highly fragile. As all legal cases do, it took time and... there were a few scary hurdles and uphill battles but Kristy held me up through it all and we recently made some positive headway and were able to get help and make good custody changes for my kids. I have worked with other lawyers along the way and Kristy is the best... absolutely brilliant. She was recommended highly to me and I highly recommend her to anyone needing help for their family law issues. She was upfront and honest about what to expect and was able to give reasonable accurate cost estimates. She was kindly conscientious of my money. At one point, it would have been easy to take our case before the judge, and that would have cost me at least $30,000 more. In the end we would likely have been successful before the final court, but Kristy went out of her way to keep my case from going to trial because of the high cost, not to mention further emotional strain for me and the kids. Kristy has been great about responding to my questions, even sometimes when she's out of the office with her family. She was well prepared for the hearing with the commissioner and quite frankly put the commissioner in his place. Kristy was able to get what we needed approved against several odds. And that set the ball rolling in a good direction. She has cried with me and celebrated with me. She will fight for what's right with everything she has. She is a lawyer who still has integrity intact.

There is no one better

Kristy worked tirelessly to help me finalize my divorce. It was looking like a never ending nightmare until she stepped in and took care of it. She was amazing to work with and easy to get in touch with. She knows all the other attorneys in town and has their respect. This allows her to negotiate wel...l on your behalf. I can not recommend her highly enough. Thank you so much for your work, guidance and friendship.
