PHENOMENAL Attorney

I was told Kristy Hanson was a tiger in court, that she strategically makes decisions and coaches along the way— she is all this and more. My divorce case has been extremely high conflict- demanding a lot of time and help to get through every day. Kristy and her team managed the crazy and never made ...me feel alone in the process. She fought hard for all that I wanted and even things I didn’t know I needed. Because of her, I got to keep and raise my babies. Because of her, my kids are happy and thriving. I will forever be grateful for her help in all the life changing decisions that weighed so heavily on me! She and her amazing team helped me navigate and assisted me through some really hard times. I would not hesitate seeking Kristy’s advice and help, she knows what she’s doing and does it so well!!

"Outstanding Legal Representation: A Truly Amazing Lawyer"

There is so much to say about Kristy! Not only is she a brilliant attorney, but she also goes the extra mile to understand your situation so she can accomplish what is needed for you. She is articulate, poised, and focused on resolving issues. Kristy has an incredible ability to see the bigger pict...ure and strategize effectively. She is determined and stands firm in advocating for her clients needs. In your divorce, don’t lose hope—Kristy will fight for you when you feel like you can't fight anymore. I couldn't have navigated this without her. My divorce was extremely complex, but she was fully prepared to handle every aspect of the legal proceedings. Retaining her was the best decision I made during my divorce; it truly changed everything during the toughest year of my life!

Over Promised and Under Delivered

I really wanted to like Kristy and give her a good recommendation but she left so many things wanting for me. In my line of work, I’ve worked with several dozen case attorneys and you have lawyers that are reactive 11th hour attorneys and then those that are proactive, strategic and attack oriented. ...I do see her somewhere in the middle although she failed her fiduciary responsibilities to represent us. I married a girl with kids from a previous marriage and she had used Kristy in her previous divorce process. We had several outstanding continued legal proceedings with my wife’s ex and she wanted to continue to use Kristy because of her knowledge already about her previous marriage from years earlier. I strongly wanted to go another direction with a different attorney but gave in and complied with my wife’s wishes. Long story short, Kristy felt strongly we would get many things granted our way in different proceedings so we always would move forward with her recommendations. Instead, I felt she often fell behind the eight ball and played defense and catch up ball rather than offense when she was going to move something along... We gave up ground on every aspect including at mediation which she was extremely confident in.. They were easy base hits and the other lawyer (less experienced) was always more prepared than Kristy. I really feel she was just stretched way too thin and didn’t have the time to give our case the attention to strategically perform. The only reason I gave her two stars is because my wife is still trying to give her the benefit of the doubt. I’ve had some lawyers I’ve worked with that are fantastic and on top of everything and some that just don’t quite get there. Kristy is the latter. Tens of thousands later, I regret not making my gut decision a couple of years ago. From a guy that has used some really great attorneys, Kristy is just ho hum.

Strategic, Fierce, and Empathetic

I worked with Kristy over a period of a year and a half through divorce. She was highly strategic in planning and fierce in negotiating during mediations. She looked for opportunities to help me as her client in ways that I didn't clearly identify during the process but was afterward very grateful f...or. Above all, I'm thankful for the personal connection that I felt with Kristy, in how she listened thoughtfully and empathetically to my situation and wanted to do what was not only best for me, but, most importantly, what was best for our family--especially the children. Thanks, Kristy!

More interested in the money than in truly helping you.

I have never filed a review online, but the disappointment in Kristy was such that I felt I needed to warn others. Kristy was recommended to me and I was hopeful she would do a good job, even though my impression of her when I accompanied a friend to a consultation was not very good. Here are some of... the complaints I have had: - she never responded to some of my messages despite me asking the question several times - she tried to talk me into a solution that would have cost me $6000 more than what I was already paying, for no need and no reason, trying to bind me through a contract to use her friend rather than someone of my choice to settle an issue. I spent and payed for some 10 minutes to argue with her against the solution she was proposing (which was actually what my ex wanted. Felt like she was representing his interests, not mine). Looking back, I am SO glad I stood my grounds and saved myself those extra $6K. - she made a serious mistake at trial. I didn't know what I was allowed to do, say or not do. The cost of that mistake was $3000. I pointed it out to her explaining that I understood that error was human, but still very costly to me, and she kept arguing about what the judge had asked, in order to justify her answer. Everytime I argued that he did not ask that, she came up with something new that the judge had asked (none of which was correct). When finally confronted with the actual transcript, she argued that that's what the judge "meant" even though that wasn't what he asked at all and made me appear as being in contempt rather than compliant. How dishonest to twist the facts just to save face and get her payment (which I was willing to pay, nonetheless hoping for a small discount). - She brought another attorney to court with her, making me pay for 2 attorneys without letting me know asking for my consent. All the other attorney did was carry her papers. She did agree to remove that charge. - Finally I was never notified by her office of the court date and when my papers had to be turned in. I finally called, only to find out they needed my answer right away!

I am grateful for the opportunity I have to respond to this misleading review. I was retained by this client in 2017 after her ex-spouse filed several claims of contempt against her. The scope and goal of my representation was to defend her against claims she had violated terms of her Decree of Divorce. This client had already gone through a very reputable attorney and I was her second attorney. She claims in her review that I tried to talk her into a solution that would cost her $6,000. As an officer of the court, I am legally required to convey to my clients reasonable offers from opposing counsel. This is exactly what I did in this case and gave her the pros and cons of each side. This client elected to go to court, which we did. She misrepresents that we went to trial. We did not go to trial in her particular case. We had a contempt hearing before the District Court Commissioner. At the hearing, I was able to successfully accomplish the goal of representation, which was to keep her out of contempt. As a result of my arguments in court and the documents I filed prior to court, all of the contempt charges filed against her were ultimately and successfully dismissed. This client claims that I made a mistake in court that cost her $3,000. Somehow, this client believes that she should have been awarded attorney’s fees by the Commissioner and alleges that my statement in court prevented the Commissioner from awarding her attorney’s fees in a contempt action against her. Prior to court, I explained to this client that it is difficult to get attorney’s fees in these situations. This client asked me to make a representation to the court that was not true. She wanted me to make a statement in court that was inconsistent with the facts and inconsistent with the sworn affidavit she signed and filed. I practice law with honesty and integrity. I am a zealous advocate for my clients but will not make false statements to the court. I have gone back and listened to the transcript and I answered the question asked consistent with the affidavit and the truth. If this client wanted an attorney to lie in court, she needed to go a different direction. This review further states that I charged her for bringing another attorney to court. I am well staffed with associate attorneys and paralegals to make sure we have sufficient resources and availability to assist our clients. There were several hours I spent on her case in which I did not charge her. She was not charged for the associate attorney’s time in court. Finally, when this client received her bill, which had been discounted, she refused to pay. She informed me that if I did not write off her bill, she would post a scathing review. She essentially attempted to intimidate me to get out of paying her legitimate legal charges. Those who know me in the legal community know that I will not back down and I will not be intimidated and manipulated. It is unfortunate that this individual can use the internet as a forum to misrepresent the facts and the truth.
