Sam Sorensen thinks he is a commissioner/ Judge. I work with many attorneys and therapists in town there is a consensus on Sam that is only talked about among all professionals that work with him and have worked with him. Unfortunately this leaves it so a loving parent walking into a divorce situatio...n that is looking to protect their children has no idea as they don't have any experience or information on options for PGAL.. Sam thinks he is a commissioner and/or a judge he makes decisions based on everything being equitable not was in the best interest of the children. Do not hire him as a guardian ad litem if you are not looking for somebody who treats your children in a manner where they think they are a commissioner or judge. This makes it so there's no point in having a guardian. His job is to protect children but he has unfortunately lost sight of this and forgotten that his job is to protect the children not try to make it fair for both parties involved. My advice is ask around and you will find that the predominant amount of attorneys in town are all in consensus on him and he should not be representing children. Sam has gone back to taking divorce cases he should move forward with just doing that and stop being a private guardian ad litem as he is harming children that are being abused and in a very bad situations and people looking for a guardian to protect their children need to be aware of these facts.

Going through a divorce, especially with children, is difficult and overwhelming. Sam was great to communicate, but with a difficult and uncooperative opposing counsel it should have been recognized sooner that they weren't going to cooperate and were just using tactics to run up attorney bills. This should have been stopped sooner. (It was one of the first things my new attorne...y did when I switched.) Sam drafted the stipulation agreement regarding my children at mediation. It specified reunification therapy with an estranged daughter. Unfortunately, this is a disappointing piece of my decree that I've had to live with. It was written vaguely, making it difficult to enforce. With an already contentious divorce, Sam should have had the experience to know that there should have been deadlines put in place for choosing a therapist, as well as a recommended incremental increase in visitation if therapy goals were met. A year later, I am still estranged from my daughter and going through the court process to get visitation.
