Matthew D. Hadfield (“Matt”) grew up in Lehi, Utah, where he learned to value hard-work and putting people first. Matt received his Associate of Arts degree in Political Science from Snow College, where he played intercollegiate football and graduated summa cum laude. He then attended Southern Virginia University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree and served as student body president, also graduating summa cum laude. Matt then received his Juris Doctor from Brigham Young University, where he served as President of the Government and Politics Legal Society and was a member of the trial advocacy and moot court teams.
Matt was drawn to the legal career by his passion for serving others and solving problems. Matt began his legal career serving as an active-duty Captain in the United States Air Force, as a member of the JAG Corps. After his military service, Matt’s desire to offer high quality legal services led him to specialize in a narrower field of practice. Matt chose to focus his practice on estate planning and estate administration after seeing the peace of mind it brings families as they face challenges of death and incapacity. Matt has added asset protection to his focus areas to help clients reduce their exposure to the litigious society we live in.
In his free time, Matt enjoys spending time with his family, serving in the community, writing, coaching his children, playing basketball and pickleball, and outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, snow sports, and water sports.

"Matt is a very professional, thoughtful, and careful estate planning attorney. I've had the pleasure of getting to know Matt recently through our association in Wealth Counsel which is a nationwide association of like-minded estate planning attorneys. Matt understands that estate planning is so much more than simple legal document production. It requires a level of expertise and dedication to a practice area that can only be obtained through much study and experience. Matt brings those qualities to the table for his clients. I have no hesitation in recommending Matt as one of those rare attorneys in the area who understands and practices those principles."
"Matt is the guy I go to whenever I have estate planning questions. He is an excellent attorney, and I consider him a specialist in his field. In addition to his legal knowledge, I have always found him to be friendly, helpful, engaging, and an all-around pleasure to spend time with. I can endorse him without hesitation."
"Matt knows his stuff when it comes to estate planning. I recently met him through WealthCounsel, and he was very willing to collaborate and help me out with some complex estate planning issues I have been working on for my own clients. If he was willing to bend over backwards for me (a fellow attorney and his competition), think of how well he treats his own clients! That's the kind of attorney you want handling your case."
"Matt's careful approach in his practice is confidence building. He is not a casual lawyer. Rather, he is detail-oriented and diligent. Matt is the type of lawyer I would hire myself and refer to my family or friends."
"Matt assisted a family member of a client of mine that I was conflicted out to help. He was very thorough, kind, patient, charged very reasonable fees. Very helpful with the client/referral."
"I've known Matt for several years as we served together in the Air Force JAG Corps. He's personable, diligent, and you can trust him with your Estate Planning needs. He's one of the most honorable men I know, and I highly recommend him."
