I had an aggressive driver following me, acting like they would side swipe me, getting in front of me and braking hard, etc. when I tried to speed away to avoid an accident, I was charged with reckless driving for speeding and illegal lane changes. The aggressive driver went so far as to pull in behi...nd the officer and lie that I had caused an accident and that they had been tailing me to get a license #. This angered the sheriff's deputy further, who then wrote up the situation to look as though I had possibly caused an accident, hit and run, and then further inferred that I had taken a long time "to catch up to" as if I was avoiding being pulled over or trying to get away from the police. Steve gave me the benefit of his substantial experience on both sides, prosecutorial and defense, and let me know the worst case/highly unlikely outcome, the likeliest worst outcome, the likeliest best outcome, and how to work toward the best possible outcome. I felt less unease immediately and more empowered. I had to do work to assist Steve and he was open to my ideas, such as providing GPS to show there was no merit to the aggressive driver's hit and run story, etc. I completed the tasks that Steve asked of me and the result was a deal with the prosecutor for a lesser charge and a fine. I felt confident that had I proceeded to jury trial that my odds would have been favorable with Mr. Minert as my attorney, but I didn't want to incur further expense or take further time to resolve a stressful situation. Steve definitely is an honest and skilled attorney. He is ethical, honest, affordable, well connected, and knows how to leverage the truth in your favor. I hired Steve for a criminal case. There are a few things that i feel stand out about him more than most. First off, I have never met a more detail oriented legal professional. Throughout the case I was provided with extremely detailed information as to the status, and plan moving forward. This inclu...ded clear and concise explanations when necessary. Second, He doesn't mess around. What I mean is, he is very dedicated to the task at hand. He is extremely diligent. At no time did I feel he could have worked harder on our case. That, in and of itself, is a rarity. And last but certainly not least. Steve really cared about us as people and not just about the case. Hiring an attorney for your son is certainly not something a parent looks forward to, but when our son got into some trouble we knew that it was in his best interest to have an attorney represent him rather than trying to navigate the court system on our own. We gave Steve a call and after meeting wi...th him we definitely knew that we wanted to hire him. He outlined every step that needed to be done and I loved that he put the responsibility on my son yet communicated with us as well so we could make sure he followed through with the instructions. Steve was very prompt with getting back with any questions we had along the way. When court day arrived, my son was pleasantly surprised with the results that Steve was able to negotiate, getting several charges dropped.
