Handled a high conflict case with much devotion.

Mrs. Randall not only handled the legal aspects of my (unfortunately, very high conflict) case with professionalism and devotion, but she was also sensitive to the stress level and emotion that resulted from a very unique, highly contested and unusual set of accusations. During our mediation session,... she stood up for me when she witnessed that the confidentiality of the mediation had been breached (by way of mediator allowing opposing attorney to wander the office unsupervised, carrying the mediator's confidential notes.) She was very disturbed by that and intended to report the mediator to the bar. She also showed her devotion to my unusual set of circumstances when she got hired at another firm , but continued to work my case upon her move to another firm and only agreed to the re-hire if they agreed she could finish out my case. I would not hesitate to recommend her as an attorney.

Stephanie was the right attorney for a very nasty divorce

When my ex left, I knew the divorce was going to get nasty. She is the type of person to seek complete annihilation of those in her way. This was no exception. In fact, she was far more aggressive than I had ever seen her. She leveled many accusations against me of the very worst nature - from child ...abuse to attempted murder. I interviewed several attorneys before I selected Stephanie. In fact, she was the last one I discussed my case with. I left other consultations feeling like I was being "sold to". I can appreciate good salesmanship when I'm buying a used car or a new sofa, but I need more than that from an attorney. Stephanie made it very clear early in the consultation that her interest was my daughter. She didn't come out and say it. Rather, her thoughtful questions reflected a genuine concern for her and showed her passion for doing the right thing for the child. I knew that her concern for my daughter during that discussion was genuine, and that meant the world to me. Based on that meeting, I immediately retained Stephanie. She started on my case that day, working hard to meet a rapidly approaching critical deadline. Stephanie's energy and tenacity never waned. We were dealing with a VERY difficult person who started the process self-represented, went through two attorneys, and ended self-represented, with a stint of self representation in between her attorneys. My ex dug her heels in and refused to cooperate at every opportunity. No matter what the circumstances were, my ex opposed anything and everything I proposed. It was very clear that the goal was nothing more than to make my life as difficult as she possibly could. Having Stephanie there to explain the legal elements of every situation to me went a long way for my peace of mind. She was always thorough and extremely knowledgeable. In all of her dealings with my ex, Stephanie was very professional, while being very firm with our position. I was consistently amazed at Stephanie's ability to recall information. It makes her extremely efficient. I know she was working on other cases too, but she ALWAYS knew what was going on. She ALWAYS had a clear picture of the current status of everything. We could discuss any part of the case at any time, and she never needed me to remind her about anything more than a minor detail. Often, she was the one reminding ME of details. When it came to finances, we didn't really have much to quibble over. We should have been able to get the finances done at mediation. Nevertheless, there was a tremendous amount of resistance from my ex over everything. Her demands were far above anything the court would award her. It was very clear that we would have to go to trial. Stephanie handled my case from day one in preparation for trial. So when the judge ordered our trial date moved up, unexpectedly leaving us with only one week to prepare, she was not caught on her heels. Stephanie put together an excellent plan for trial and executed it flawlessly. She went after key details, demonstrating that what my ex was asking for was outrageous and that she was willing to lie to get it. Stephanie also prepared me well for my time on the stand. The end result was a completely fair ruling on our finances, and I couldn't be happier. The child custody issue is still in play due to my ex's hostile approach to the matter. Stephanie is still on that portion of the case as well. She has done an excellent job laying the groundwork over the last few months to have the matter resolved in a highly favorable manner that serves my daughter's best interests. Stephanie's detailed knowledge of the law, relentless legal research practices, and insightful strategic maneuvering resulted in a completely fair decision on finances and brought us to the cusp of justice for my daughter. Neither would have been possible without her. I wouldn't trust anyone else to represent me if I had to do it again. Well done, Stephanie, and thank you.

Professional, Knowledgeable and Unyielding Representation

Sometimes the best attempts to remain civil don't go as planned. I waited 9 months, working with my ex's attorney, making consolation after consolation, only to receive terms that were so far from fair it was like the scene in Spaceballs: "They've gone...to plaid..." and I just stared at the count...er proposal with my jaw dropped. It was definitely time to get someone on my side of the currently unbalanced equation. I found Stephanie through the Burnham Law Firm (and I will write another review for Todd separately). Stephanie has been a blessing and an unstoppable force. She is sharp minded, eagle-eyed and knows how to translate my position on matters into proper "legalese." Divorce can be stressful and expensive, but do yourself a favor... don't go for a cheaper, wishy-washy attorney, and don't go for a mindless bull-dog that just wants to extract cash from you... get someone balanced who knows when to negotiate and when to throw-down, someone with solid expertise who will work hard for your best interests (and the best interests of your children), someone who considers the short and long term picture, and someone who is patient with you and explains to you what is going on. Who is that someone? Stephanie Ann Randall, that's who! Thank you, Stephanie!

Best decision I ever made was hiring Stephanie Randall with her extraordinary knowledge of law

By far the decision I ever made was hiring Stephanie Randall for my very complicated child custody case. She worked hard on my case and never gave up. Even when nobody else had faith in me she knew better and knew the laws inside and out. I never could have made it through the struggle without her. T...he best darn lawyer EVER!!!!

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
