A resident of Ft. Collins for over 20 years, RD began practicing law in 2008 as an associate of a high volume civil litigation firm. Followed by a few years as Policy Director of a national non-profit and General Council for a start up oil and gas company. Since 2016, RD's practice has focused on Family Law. RD is divorced himself with a son and understands the difficulties created by ending a marriage or relationship.
Preparation and communication are critical to obtaining the best possible outcome for each client. RD works closely with clients to understand their particular situation and needs, while explaining the legal options in simple to understand terms. Thus, each client is better able to evaluate their particular options and choose the best path forward. Litigation is never favorable, but necessary when the opposing party refuses to be reasonable.
In 2005, RD and a few other local climbers started the non-profit Northern Colorado Climbers Coalition to help promote and protect climbing in Northern Colorado. RD is currently on the Board of Directors and the NCCC works closely with state and federal land managers to address the impacts of climbing and to educate the users about best practices.
