Biography
James J. L. Ahern is a Partner at Fuller & Ahern, P.C., where he represents clients in criminal defense, DUI/DWAI, domestic violence, assault and felony cases, as well as personal injury matters throughout Colorado. Known for his meticulous preparation, strategic courtroom advocacy, and strong communication with clients, Mr. Ahern is frequently trusted to handle high-stakes cases where experience and attention to detail matter.
Mr. Ahern earned his B.A. from the University of Colorado Denver, graduating cum laude and with distinction, and obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2010.
As a former Deputy District Attorney, Mr. Ahern gained extensive courtroom and trial experience early in his career. He conducted numerous felony and misdemeanor jury trials and successfully prosecuted a wide range of cases, including first-degree murder, arson, vehicular homicide, assault, domestic violence offenses, DUI, and marijuana cultivation/possession cases. This insider perspective gives him a significant advantage when defending clients becuase he understands how prosecutors evaluate cases, negotiate plea offers, and present evidence at trial.
Mr. Ahern entered private practice in 2012 when he joined Susan Fuller & Associates, P.C. In 2022, he became a Partner in the firm, now known as Fuller & Ahern, P.C. He has dedicated his practice exclusively to litigation and regularly represents clients facing DUI/DWAI charges, domestic violence allegations, and serious felony offenses. He also handles personal injury claims, including motor-vehicle collisions and premises-liability cases.
