I'll never forget the day I got served and how I felt. I knew I needed help fast. I'm so fortunate I found Joanne and Underhill Law. From the first meeting we had I felt confident that I was with the right law firm. They always treated me with respect and took time to discuss the specifics with me and where we were with the case and where it was potentially headed. In the end, it was a major win for me! I can't thank Joanne, Colin and the rest of the Underhill team enough for all they've done. Legal issues for us "regular folk" can be daunting and full of much stress. I think you will find out quickly that you are in good hands--just like I was. Thank you again!! Alan
After being served with paperwork from the Colorado Department of Human Services Division of Childcare that threatened revocation of my childcare license, I turned to Joanne for help. She instantly put me at ease with her friendliness and passion. Even in our first meeting, Joanne quickly applied her knowledge in critical law theory to subsequently deconstruct and dismantle the allegations made against me. While I could have risked self-representation, I am relieved that I chose Joanne, as she pointed out multiple inaccuracies and oversights in the documentation. These points would not have been noticed without the complete and consummated background in law education and experience that Joanne brought to my case.
Using her negotiation skills, Joanne compromised with the Division of Childcare representatives for a mitigation hearing. During this hearing, she faced harsh opposition, but faithfully stuck to her logical reasoning and familiarity with the law to ensure I received the best possible outcome in my case. It is important to note that while this mitigation lasted longer than any historical hearing concerning a childcare license revocation in the State of Colorado, Joanne demonstrated a capacity for endurance and energy in negotiating for my side. She went above and beyond her duty to stand up for me in every regard.
I am delighted to say that in the end, I walked away from the hearing retaining my childcare license and sense of pride as a childcare provider. Furthermore, Joanne ensured that the details of my case remained confidential from my clients to keep my business from harm. Without Joanne, I would have lost everything. I confidently endorse and recommend Joanne’s services, and it goes without saying that I will contact her in the future for further representation.

My firm offers innovative legal services plans to small and growing Colorado businesses that feature affordable, fixed monthly fees for business transactions, employee issues, contracts, and other legal services needed to solve day-to-day problems. Our LegalPlans can be tailored to your needs. We also provide traditional legal services, including litigation, significant business transactions, and tax representation at competitive hourly rates and fixed fees. Over my 30+year career, I have represented hundreds of small businesses and their owners on business, customer, employee, tax, and real estate matters and in business and real estate litigation.
I earned my law degree, practiced law at a large Washington, D.C. firm, then joined a federal banking agency as a trial attorney and assistant general counsel. My early years as a Washington, D.C. lawyer gave me an insider's view of bank regulatory compliance and administrative agency litigation and introduced me to antitrust, oil and gas price control, banking, and real estate litigation, which I later was able to use to advantage in representing business clients. When I moved to Colorado, I returned to private practice at "downtown" law firms. Since 1994, I have enjoyed my own law practices in the south metro Denver area.

Joanne went "above and beyond" what I expected
I first went to Underhill & Underhill, P.C. for help with an IRS tax problem several years ago. Joanne Underhill was knowledgeable about the IRS and my options and she went "above and beyond" to resolve my issue in a way I could afford. The firm was very fair on its pricing. I was completely satisfied with the representation. I've gone back for advice on other matters since then and I continue to be very satisfied. I would absolutely and unequivocally recommend Joanne to anyone else with a federal or state tax problem.

Joanne Underhill is our trusted legal advisor
We were exceptionally pleased with the work Joanne Underhill did for us. She analyzed the FAA regulations our business was accused of violating and helped us develop our evidence and defend ourselves. We first started with a larger downtown firm and we were mostly charged for their research and we felt they did not have a personal interest in our case other than viewing our company as a revenue stream. When we switched to Joanne Underhill, she took a personal interest in our case and became our advocate. The FAA ended up agreeing we had not done anything wrong and voluntarily dismissed its case against our company. Joanne was easy to work with and talk to, and we enjoyed working with her. Joanne works with a sense of partnership and has become a trusted legal advisor.
