I believe that professionalism is the key to the successful practice of law especially in the area of family law, where children's lives and futures are often at stake. Many attorneys believe that you cannot be aggressive and act professionally at the same time. I disagree. A lack of professionalism and poor demeanor drives litigation (and the cost of litigation) unnecessarily. Well prepared, aggressive representation is the most effective way to reach resolution in or out of the courtroom.
Originally from Michigan, I moved to Honolulu, Hawaii during high school and obtained my undergraduate degree in political science from Hawaii Pacific University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Through college and prior to entering law school, I was a paralegal at a law firm in Honolulu, Hawaii specializing in family law. I developed a passion for family law while serving as a Group Facilitator with the Kids First program in Honolulu, a program designed for parents and children experiencing divorce. While participating in that program, I saw first hand the impact of divorce on children. While conducting activities with children designed to encourage them to open up, I was given the opportunity to listen to their feelings and fears surrounding their parents separation. My experience in that program drove me to attend law school and continues to drive me to put kids first in my practice of law.
I attended my first year of law school at the William S. Richardson School of Law, University of Hawaii at Manoa. I enjoyed clerking in the family law section of the Legal Aid Society of Honolulu during the summer following my first year of law school. I transferred to the University of Denver, College of Law where I graduated in the top 11 percent of my class. While attending the University of Denver, College of Law, I also had the privilege of practicing family law under the auspices of the Student Law Office.
I have four young children and two teenage step-children who keep my husband and I very busy! During the times in my life when I enjoyed free time, I was an outdoor enthusiast and most importantly an avid beach bum. Before aspiring to become a lawyer, I was a scuba instructor and dive performer for submarine companies in Okinawa, Japan and Honolulu, Hawaii.

Be careful
I hired Alex because she did a free half-hour consult, and she knew something I needed to know when filing my case on my own. I somehow assumed she would be good at the details based on this information. I was wrong. I ended up needing to hire a full-time attorney. I should have looked elsewhere....

Caring, but tough when she needs to be
Alex has helped our family and our divorce/custody issues for many years. She has always been supportive and knowledgeable with everything we have asked of her. She has done a fabulous job!
"I endorse this lawyer. She is a knowledgeable and highly ethical mentor. Alex always knows the best strategy to best serve her clients."
"I endorse this lawyer. I have had the pleasure of working with Alex White on several matters in which she represented an impaired client in a divorce matter and I was appointed as guardian ad litem for her client. Alex is a tireless lawyer. She is kind, compassionate, hard working, highly skilled and empathic. She does an excellent job of analyzing cases, determining the strengths and weaknesses and explaining the circumstances to her clients. She is an outstanding advocate but, at the same time, knows when settlement is the preferred course of action. It is an honor and a pleasure to know and work with Alex and I am proud to consider her a colleague and a friend. Alex receives my highest endorsement."
"Alex White is an aggressive family law attorney when litigation is necessary and a skilled negotiator when settlement is what is in her client's best interest. Alex works tirelessly to serve her clients and to protect their children. I endorse Alex White for men and women looking for a family law attorney."
"I highly endorse Ms. White. She is a vigorous advocate for her clients when needed yet she is able to remain level headed and creative enough to reach win-win settlement agreements if doing so is in her client's best interests. She is an excellent attorney and a true "counselor" of law."
"Alex is one of the most capable and effective attorneys that I have ever worked with. She is one of the go-to attorneys for parenting time issues at this firm."
"I worked with Alexandra, (Alex to me) White for several years. She's a very quick thinking, focused on the big picture attorney who works hard for her clients, and who understands the difference between the important and the things that distract from the important. Too few get that."
"I endorse this lawyer. Alexandra is experienced and takes great care of her family law clients. I highly recommend her for any type of family law case. Terri Harrington"
"I strongly endorse Alexandra White for her excellent skills, her true sense of caring, and her very sharp mind. You will be well served with Alex as your attorney for family law matters."
"That great combination of advocate for her client while remaining collaborative and civil with opposing counsel in the process. A pleasure to work with."

The Court entered a substantial maintenance award for a period of time extending beyond the completion of Wife's PhD program to allow her to obtain employment and a fairly disproportionate property division in favor of wife.
