  1. Immigration

I represent individuals, families, and businesses in a wide variety of immigration matters, such as family petitions, marriage petitions, employment-based visas and green cards, and deportation defense.

  2. Federal crime
    5%
Under certain circumstances I represent individuals charged with federal crimes related to immigration, such as unlawful entry, unlawful re-entry, and failure to comply with a deportation order.

Lindsay has a passion for working with immigrants.  As an immigration lawyer she represents individuals and families in a wide variety of immigration cases, including family green cards, marriage green cards, crime victim visas, affirmative asylum, waivers, removal defense, appeals, and federal litigation.  Lindsay also represents Spanish-speaking clients accused of crimes.

Family-based Green Cards

As an immigration lawyer, Lindsay has represented U.S. citizens as they file visa applications for their parents, spouses, and siblings.  This includes applications marriage green card or parent petitions here in the United States, or requesting immigrant visas for family members abroad.  For marriage green card applications, Lindsay works hard to make sure that immigration authorities have a complete picture of the bona fide relationship, so that the interview process is as smooth as possible.

Business Immigration

Lindsay handles most of the employment-based immigration for the firm.  She works with both employers and employees to find possible options for employers to sponsor the employee for either a temporary visa or a green card.  She can help the parties step-by-step as they file a PERM labor certification, H-1B visa, TN visa, or other type of employment-based immigration benefit.

Crime Victim Visas: U Visas

Victims of certain crimes in the United States may be eligible for what is commonly referred to as a “U visa.”  The wait for a U visa is long, but ultimately it could lead to a green card and citizenship.  Lindsay has a heart for crime victims, and has experience working with police departments to obtain a law enforcement certification so that her clients can apply for a U visa.  She works with people across the country to develop U visa applications that are robust with evidence related to the crime and the effects on the victims.

VAWA: Violence Against Women Act

The Violence Against Women Act created a type of immigration relief for spouses of United States citizens who have suffered abuse in the relationship.  The abuse does not have to be physical, and oftentimes begins as emotional or psychological in nature.  Lindsay works with eligible immigrant spouses who have suffered such abuse to apply for VAWA.  She works with therapists, friends, and other supporters to demonstrate evidence of the abuse, and strive to create a safe space for her clients given that these cases are difficult endeavors.

Affirmative Asylum

If you fear return to your home country because you believe you will face persecution if you return, you may be eligible to apply for asylum.  Lindsay works with individuals who have such a fear, including those who fear persecution because of their family situation, political affiliation, or sexual orientation.  Lindsay recognizes the importance of documenting all aspects of an asylum claim, and explores each issue of a potential asylum case for the strongest possible presentation.

Immigration Waivers

There are many reasons for needing an immigration waiver, the most common of which is if you entered without permission and are now applying for a marriage green card.  For such waivers, an individual has to prove that his or her spouse would suffer extreme hardship if he or she was not able to stay in the U.S.  Lindsay helps clients dig deep to expose just how difficult it would be if they were separated or if they had to return to the immigrant’s home country.

Deportation Defense

As a former public defender for the Colorado State Public Defender’s Office, Lindsay represented hundreds of clients in many aspects of litigation, including bond hearings, motions and over twenty jury trials.  She also wrote several appeals, even winning an interlocutory appeal as Respondent in front of the Colorado Supreme Court.  This work at the Public Defender’s Office prepared her well for representing clients as an immigration lawyer in many litigation proceedings, including immigration court, BIA appeals, and appeals before the federal circuit courts.  Lindsay also represents individuals accused of federal crimes related to immigration, such as illegal reentry.

Lindsay is a fighter, and is not afraid to raise a difficult issue in defense of her clients.  She believes that everyone deserves a zealous advocate and the best defense possible.

Simply brilliant.
My husband and I worked with Lindsay regarding our adjustment of status case. She was an absolute pleasure to work with. She is very precise with all your questions, prompt with emails and scheduled calls, and overall has a truly positive and warm aura about her that left us feeling comfortable, confident, and very well taken care of. She is very intelligent and knows her stuff, very well organized, and sincerely cares about her clients. Can’t say enough great things about this wonderful lady! If you are in need of any type of immigration services, she is the best one to hire in Austin hands down.

Phenomenal
My husband and I hired Lindsay Gray to help us with our immigration visa at the end of 2017/early 2018. She came highly recommended and at that moment we hired her we were not to know just how fantastic she really was. My husband is American and I am from Ireland, we both live in Los Angeles and you would think that the distance and time differences between Austin and Los Angeles would deter a lawyer but Lindsay was as professional as one could be and worked with our schedules willingly and happily. Lindsay really went above and beyond for us, she worked around the clock on our case, always communicating updates and checking in, may it be via phone, Skype or email; even though the two of us are extraordinarily bad about keeping on top of things which I bet drove her crazy occasionally. Lindsay made our immigration process as smooth as one could possibly be, she explained everything clearly and was so detailed in what we needed or what she needed from us to help us. There wasn’t one moment were my husband and myself ever felt confused or left in the dark. If we had questions she answered them. While Lindsay is accustomed to working in Austin and St.Louis she did a great deal of research for our case, considered differences and emphasized peculiarities which are different between the states. Lindsay was even in communication with California lawyers to really make sure all our boxes were ticked and there would be no surprises. When it came time for our interview she flew out to Los Angeles and it was actually the first time we were getting to meet her. We had been corresponding for so long that when we all met it felt like meeting an old friend. Lindsay Gray is a phenomenal lawyer and I cannot recommend her enough to anyone. She really is someone admirable and incredibly professional.

Grateful
I am so grateful to be writing this review and to have found Whitlock & Gray at just the right time in our lives. Lindsay is an incredible person (& extremely patient [I'm writing this review a few months too late]!) and it was an absolute honour to work with her on our case. She was extremely committed to working with us and fantastic at answering all of our questions/easing our concerns. The amount of preparation she put in and the time she dedicated to us meant we knew we had made the right choice for us. The process was so smooth for us (fortunately) and we were always kept up to date as well as having frequent check-ins. We highly recommend Lindsay and it was the best decision we have made to work with her after the first time we talked. We will definitely be reaching out again when my renewal comes up in a couple of years. Thank you for all of your hard work, Lindsay. It has been wonderful to work with you!

DACA Questions
I was contacting Lindsay from an Asian country, but the distance was hardly an obstacle in reaching out to her and getting prompt replies. The meeting went smoothly, and I was able to get all my questions answered. I feel comfortable in returning to Lindsay for other questions along the way to obtaining a VISA.

Best attorney I could have hired for my immigration process!
After contacting dozens of immigration offices, different institutions seeking for help in a foreign land, I can say I couldn't have made a better choice when I decided to hire Whitlock & Gray for my permanent resident case. Besides being super friendly and understanding, they have a structured process, online tools and personal guidance to help you through this bureaucratic and detailed process. No regrets.

Speachless
Lindsay Gray and her team are just amazing kind and truthful. We were never surprised with anything because they always kept an open line of communication. Being a immigrant in the united states was scary until I met with Lindsey, By the end of our consultation I felt like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders and I left knowing that I will be able to now extend my roots and raise my family together in the United States.

Lindsay helped us with a permanent residency application
We got married in 2015. My wife was on a student visa, and we felt it prudent to secure the advice and services of an attorney. We found Linsday online (Yelp), and made an appointment. We found Lindsay to be pleasant, professional and very good at explaining the process. We also thought the fee was reasonable. Lindsay helped us through the process, and managed our documents and application. Lindsay was also quick to respond to requests for information by email. All in all, we had a pleasant experience, and have no qualms about recommending her services.

Great immigration attorney!
Lindsay is a phenomenal attorney, she is passionate about what she does and she was very patient working with me and my family. She communicates in a language that I can understand and not using the complicated law jargon that is not always cleared to clients. Her face to face meetings with me were very effective, she is upfront and direct, and that saves time. The level of care that she shows is second to none, you can see through her work that she cares and she is going above and beyond to advocate in your case. Regardless of the twist and turns of my case, by seeing the level of energy, dedication and care that she put into my case, that certainly put me at ease. It also gave me the peace of mind to confidently say even if things did not turn out the way I was expected, I would have still given her thumbs up because I knew that she left no stone unturned and that she went to great lengths to position my case to the best of her abilities. Unfortunately there are not too many lawyers that I can say that about. My case had a happy ending and the financial quote that she gave me was reasonable. I have learned working on my own case can be costly when a mistake is made, and USCIS certainly does not issue refunds for mistakes made. It saves time and money when you hire the right lawyer. I have since then recommended other friends to Lindsay and they had nothing but great things to say about her. If you are looking for a lawyer, I would encourage you to first all do your research because there is an equal number of self-centered attorneys as well as some good lawyers out there, but what differentiate Lindsay is the fact that she is a great lawyer who valued me as a client, she is passionate about what she does, she is dedicated to successfully position my case and she showed that she cared about me as an individual and cared about the outcome and how it may affect me and my family. As a client I could not have asked for more. I am sure you will have a great similar experience if you choose to hire her. Lindsay was a blessing to me and my family!

We love Lindsay! :)
We cannot say enough good things about Lindsay Gray and her practice! She is extremely professional and very patient with our constant stream of questions. She truly is a blessing and we fully believe that God put her in our path. We trust her completely and she is extremely knowledgeable. She handled our I-130 case and it was completed in 5 months without any issues. We are excited to be working with her again on my husband's waiver and visa. She is prompt in her correspondence, both via email and phone. She explains things so that they are easy to understand. My husband's first language is Spanish and he wanted a lawyer that could speak to him in both English and Spanish; Lindsay's Spanish is excellent! We feel completely secure in entrusting our case to her and would recommend her to anyone without reservation!

Hardship J1 Waiver
I was looking into a hardship J1 waiver and my friend introduced me to Lindsay Grey located in St Louis MO and I live in Florida. After our initial phone consultation, she was willing to be my lawyer. She is very professional and very helpful. She answers her email like she was doing instant messenger . The process took 11 months, but I did get an approval with no issues. The case was well presented with a solid affidavit, convincing points and peers reviewed documentation. And I have asked her a couple of times to contact USCIS over the phone to see why the case took so long and she did. It was a long ride for me, but I am so happy I have worked with Lindsay. Thank you Lindsay Grey for the job well-done.

lindsay has been amazing for us
having a complicated immigration matter that was taking place in kansas city i truly didn't know where to turn. we're nc residents. somehow we stumbled on lindsay and meggie biesenthal and they have been handling our case together. a child of one of my employees had been picked up by ins and was being held. lindsay and meggie were able to get him released and on a bus to his mother. well, unbeknownst to me, there was a way to prove that sending him back to his homeland was going to be like throwing him to the wolves. turns out that he grew up in the absolute worst conditions and sending him back into them was going to threaten his life. lindsay and meggie got right on it, and in the middle of my case the immigration reform bill has been passed. yes, we're in the early stages of this, but it's truly looking very promising. it seems that my employee was hospitalized in virginia by he child's father in virginia a few years ago. upon hearing this it immediately tripped the alarm on meggie and lindsay. the mother would qualify for a U visa. so, this is where we sit currently...they're working on the u visa for my employee, and her son isn't due back in court until november 2016. HOPEFULLY, by then my employee will have a u visa which will give her son the fast track towards residency. i simply could not be more pleased with lisdsay and meggie. we just had a skype discussing the cases and my employee cannot say enough good things about the representation she's receiving. thank you so much. both of you!
