Megan is a proud life-long Texan. She was born and raised in San Antonio. She graduated from Texas State University in San Marcos before returning home to San Antonio to complete her law degree at St. Mary’s University School of Law.  

As a law student, Megan worked at Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid where she helped low-income Texans with legal issues. She also interned at the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office and the Office of Public Defender for the Western District of Texas. Her experience in the district attorney’s office was both enlightening and career changing. Working there opened her eyes to the vast and pervasive abuses fellow citizens suffer at the hands of the criminal justice system. That experience has made Megan a passionate advocate for the rights of her fellow citizens.

After receiving her law license in 2011, Megan devoted her practice to defending those accused of crimes by the government. She began her career in San Antonio, initially focusing on intoxication related offenses, including DWI and other drug crimes.

In 2015, Megan moved to Central Texas area and began a firm in San Marcos, where she defended a wide-variety of criminal accusations, including DWI, drug possession, assault, theft, and many others.

In 2016, Megan opened an office in Dallas to better service the North Texas area. There Megan's focus shifted to cannabis related issues, including criminal defense and advice and consultation services for emerging businesses in the cannabis industry. In addition to her work inside a courtroom, Megan is a proud advocate for the reform of cannabis laws in Texas.

In 2021, Megan returned to Central Texas, where she was excited to join the Vazquez Law Firm. Here Megan is honored to learn from the award-winning attorney, Amber Vazquez. The firm, which is located in a historic builidng in downtown Austin, focuses on federal and state litigation of serious and aggravated felonies.

Megan is a founding board member of the Texas Association of Cannabis Lawyers, a former board member of the San Antonio Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, a former board member of the Dallas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, a member of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and a lifetime member of the Legal Committee of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws.

Highly Recommend

I was very fortunate to be represented by Megan for a controlled substance charge that originated from a stopover at the DFW airport while returning to the Pacific Northwest from a Mexico vacation. She was top-notch; professional, knowledgeable, diligent, and a kind and decent human taboot. Though it was a lengthy process (especially so because of distance and pandemic), the end result (dismissal) exceeded my expectations. She is the best

I was charged with a class B misdemeanor for possession of marijuana. I found Megan on the NORML site and I’m so glad I did. She handled my case professionally and compassionately. I ended up getting plead down to a class C with reduced fines. Highly recommend.

Thank You

I was arrested in a small town that resembles hazard county basically and with the hard headed and contradicting DA. Megan was able to get me a plea deal that I can live with. She was very helpful and on point when needed to be. I would highly recommend her to all.

Kind hearted

I met with a few different lawyers before I found Megan, but as soon as I met her I knew she was the lawyer. Lol. She actually is genuine, and seems to genuinely care about you! She is hands down the best lawyer I've ever had! Any questions I had, Megan was eager to answer. She always replied back in a timely manner. She always explained what to expect. She Actually Cares

Megan Roper is seriously the best attorney I have ever dealt with. She understands what needs to be done in order to have a successful defense, and best of all, she knows how to relay the information in a way that you can understand without feeling belittled. It's so hard to know if you have picked the "right lawyer" when a case drags out but she stuck with me and exceeded all of my expectations. Fantastic lawyer, genuinely pursuing your best options

Megan Roper is the lawyer you want. She provided excellent service and went above and beyond. Any time I needed to reach her, she was there. She always replied to my texts and calls no matter how many questions or concerns I had. Megan was patient, took the time to listen, and provided professional advice. She explained things about my case step by step, what may happen even if it wasn't the outcome we were looking for. I never felt out of the loop and she took care of everything. She had a solid plan and was obviously experienced with situations similar to my own. She is more than willing to help you with any financial aspect as well. She fought for my POM case to be dropped to the minimum charges, while I was already on probation at the time, and kept everything off my record, which is exactly what I was wanting. What Can I Say?? PLENTY.....Attentive, Dilligent, Knowledgable, and Concerned to Begin With!

Megan took on my case at an 11th hour junction, fit my case into her ongoing schedule while providing the Knowledgeable Attention needed to Constructively Outline and Assemble a Strong Defense. She provided the Time needed at our first meeting to truly Listen and Allow me to Present an array of Evidence incl. Photos and Edocs. Patience/ concern I didn't feel speaking with 2 attorney's previously! This was a Complicated Case initially brought as a Major Class Felony against me. Her ability to Assemble Clarifying Fact and Evidence with Determined Effort and Combined Knowledge of Procedural Aspects made the difference & in so ENABLED A DISMISSAL - Full & Complete of Any Further Charges!! As such Allowed my ability to pursue civil remedy against those earlier having made false claim & allegation. The lawyer to hire in hays county

I hired Megan Roper for a Dwi case in Hays County. She was reasonably priced for the the amount of expertise of Dwi's and the work that she put in on my case. She fought hard with the DA to come up with a deal we could both live with, but at the end of the day we couldn't agree on one. She wasn't afraid to go to trial to fight for a better resolution even though I was. Megan knew a great expert witness who testified for us too. In court, the she made the DA look like a rookie and she was the experienced one. The judge agreed with her and the outcome was much better than the deal that they were originally offering. I highly recommend Megan Roper and would hire her again if I ever get into trouble.

Wonderful Attorney

Megan Roper has been amazing through my whole case. She was always there when I needed her and kept in contact throughout everything. I never had to worry about her being present or prepared, she was very professional. She was also very understanding about some personal issues I encountered during the case that made it difficult to stay on top of things myself. Megan was extremely helpful with my cases. I recommend her to everyone.

Being a college student with a square of bars down the street from campus, it's not hard to get into trouble. I was charged with a public intoxication charge and Megan was eager to help me resolve it to the point of expunction. I was simply seeking legal advice. However, during our consultation I knew I wasn't equipped to handle all of the ramifications that came with my charge. She educated me on what the ticket meant then explained the process to have it taken off my record. I felt comfortable and relaxed in her office as opposed to the anxiety I usually experience when discussing my mistake. I can not thank her enough for her time and consultation she provided.

Smart, professional and caring

I have know Megan for a few years, but did not need her services until recently for a misdemeanor citation that would have had an adverse effect on my record. I contacted her by phone and she had me send over a copy of the citation that night and by the next morning I had a follow up from her regarding my options. After being advised of those options, I left it in her hands and within a few weeks had a resolution to the case. Easiest experience with the judicial process I have ever experienced. Would, and do, recommend to anyone that needs someone who knows the law and cares about finding the best resolution for her client.

Amazing!

Megan changed my life forever. A man had taken advantage of my cousin and myself. While trying to get help i was in an accident. I was arrested and questioned by detectives, troopers, officers and doctors. Nobody understood the emotional damage we had went through. Two year's later the visits from detectives stopped, the man was charged and I thought it was finally over until an officer came to my house when i was eight months pregnant and arrested me! Then the nightmare started again! Apparently they charged me with a dwi from that horrible night and it turned into a warrant i wasn't even aware of bc when i was released i wasn't given a court date. Megan fought for me and got my case DISMISSED! I literally cried for hours after.. I'm so grateful for Megan. She is so knowledgeable and confident in what she does. She gives you the feeling that everything in under control and that's the best feeling when things are out of your hands. Thank you Megan...
