Got pulled over at 11:00pm in downtown Austin under suspicious circumstances. Jerry had me out of jail by 10:00am the following morning. A couple months later he was able to keep my license arguing that the officer was under investigation for suspicious activity and had no reason to pull me over. ...

This was my first time ever getting in trouble with the law for anything other than a speeding ticket many years ago. With my career on the line, I chose the Law Office of Jaime Balagia and after discovery was assigned Jerry as my attorney. Jerry's attentiveness and compassion was beyond anythi...

After a trip to Austin went horribly wrong with me getting assaulted and wrongly thrown in jail to rot with serious charges, Jerry got me out of jail in less than 24 hours and back on a plane to my home state before I lost my job. He then pursued justice despite the police and the DA's complete disre...

I was arrested for class B DWI. I made the mistakes of taking field sobriety test and breathalyzer. They were not in my favor. But Gerald worked diligently to win me deferred adjudication. After 18 months of no arrests my record will show no evidence of a DWI. This was a very emotionally stressful or...
"Jerry Smith has the highest endorsement that I could possibly give. Jerry came to work for our office over five years ago. I was blown away that Jerry joined us and was extremely excited about the experience that he brought with him. On Jerry's first day at the office we picked a felony jury on a DWI case. Jerry showed outstanding talent and knew the law better than my law school professors. We hung the jury and got the State to agree to a misdemeanor that saved our client's career. Jerry is the anchor attorney of the Austin area office and I am proud to call him friend and fellow trail warrior. Jerry has been a successful trial lawyer for over thirty years and he handles serious felonies and DWI of all degrees. Jerry is one of the most respected attorneys in the Austin area. Jerry's character and personal integrity are of the highest order and I consider him to be a personal friend. I trust Jerry Smith with my family and that says it all. Jerry Smith is endorsed by the DWI Dude."
"I've had the great pleasure of working with Gerald E. Smith on various matters. He is a fantastic attorney. His experience in and knowledge of the criminal justice system set him apart from most attorneys. I highly recommend Gerald for any criminal matter."
"It's been too many times to count when I've needed help and Jerry came through for me. Jerry's knowledge of the law along with his approach towards trial have all helped me in my own cases. It's a shame there aren't too many attorneys of Jerry's caliber out there...but I suppose if there were I'd be out of a job. I am fortunate to have worked on cases with him. I admire him. I trust Jerry."
"I have the utmost respect for Jerry Smith. Jerry helped make me the lawyer I am today, and helped mentor me when I was a newly licensed attorney. I still call him for advice when I need it. Jerry is fantastic in trial, he has an awesome grasp of all the criminal laws in Texas (penal code, code of criminal procedure, transportation code), and he has a great personality. Jerry has never met a person he didn't like. I miss working around him on a daily basis. He's one of the best lawyers there is. And I wouldn't be writing this if I didn't mean it 100%."
