I have practiced law in Texas since 1988. Since 1993, my practice has specialized in working with physicians, nurses, physician assistants and pharmacists. I enjoy representing health care professionals before their licensing agencies and the State Office of Administrative Hearings. In my practice, I have worked with many healthcare professionals who suffer from chemical and/or mental impairment. I am experienced in the area of Administrative Law and Health Law, and I always try to give personalized representation unique to my individual client's needs.
I also work as the Field Representative for the state wide impaired physician committee, sponsored by the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association.

I engaged Mr. McDonald very late in my case with the Medical Board, but he was able to kick things into high gear and get me ready for my hearing. He was absolutely instrumental in helping me get a positive outcome. I would absolutely recommend him to any physician looking for help with a Texas Med...

Mr. McDonald was very professional and encouraging during the duration of my case. He encouraged me to be honest and insightful in my responses provided to the board, and I believe this is the primary reason why my case had a positive outcome. He made himself available whenever I had a question or co...

"As a Board Certified attorney in Administrative Law, Jeff is one of the few attorneys I call for any clients of mine facing discipline from a healthcare licensing agency. Jeff’s reputation with the Texas Medical, Nursing, Dental, and Pharmacy Boards is second to none. His past Medical Board experience allows him to represent not only licensed physicians, but also those persons seeking a TMB license or physician-in-training (“PIT”) permit. Jeff’s expertise in representing physicians and physician assistants facing impairment allegations, is second to none. In addition, Jeff is an expert on navigating the complicated and frustrating path to physician licensure. His dedication in getting his clients a license is admirable. I know of no attorney more qualified to handle a complaint or investigation before the Texas Medical Board, Nursing Board, Dental Board, Pharmacy Board, or any healthcare licensing agency."
"Jeff McDonald is an outstanding person and an equally gifted attorney. The secret to Jeff’s skills as an attorney is that he actually cares about the client. He puts in the time to know the client and their issues in order to achieve the best possible outcome. Jeff is universally respected by the staff of the various licensing boards he appears before. More importantly, the Board members respect and trust him. If Jeff says something is true, he has earned the trust of both Board members and staff that they accept it as gospel truth. Such is a tangible demonstration his principles as man and the ethics that attorneys are supposed to represent. He is equally a good man and a skilled and talented attorney – a rare combination. I trust Jeff completely and I know he will always have the best interest of his client above all else."
"I have known Mr. McDonald for over 40 years. I worked with him at the State and have been privileged to work alongside him in the same law firm for the better part of two decades. He is reliable, determined, persistant, and thorough. Client outcomes matter to Jeff, and he puts his heart and soul into fulfilling his role as a dedicated advocate and practical counselor on the law. He prides himself on being prepared, and he doesn't shy away from hard work. An able litigator, resourceful researcher, and a skilled negotiator. Well connected in the legal community, and a man of his word. Respected on both sides of the docket."
"I have worked with Mr. McDonald since 1994. He is a skilled attorney. He is particularly knowledgeable in addiction issues as they pertain to licensed professionals. He began his career working for the Texas Medical Board and since then he has continued working with impaired professionals. He is also quite knowledgeable about the business aspects of licensing issues for physicians."
