Eric Wen-Ray Lim

I chose Eric Lim as my lawyer at the end of July last year, from the get go he was very informative and very communicative with what was going on with my case. He did a brilliant job in getting 2 felony counts dropped to a single misdeamenor. I'm still in shock he was able to make happen. I hired Eric Lim in March because of the MIP I received during Spring Break of my freshman year. From the start he was very confident with his goal to get my case dismissed. I was trying to be a good neighbor by returning what I thought was stolen property. Turns out it was a sting operation and I was looking at time for a felony. Eric was referred to me in March of 2012 when my previous attorney moved his practice out of state. I retained him for a small sum on a misdemeanor charge, then later for much larger sum for a felony assault family violence charge of which I was innocent. Within a week or two of arraignment, (which... is pretty fast), he offered me a pretty good deal, but suggested that I wait and see if I could avoid the felony charge. He was right. I was unsure what to do, but waiting was actually a good decision. Eric explained that he expected to be paid to represent me in trial, but after hearing my story he changed his mind and agreed to represent me for free. My case made the docket in October, sooner than expected. That's the reason we had to announce that we were not ready on the first pre-trial date, and I remained in county jail for an additional 2 months. He always believed in my innocence and I know he worked hard reviewing the evidence. He does have friends and connections within the system and certain judges that he prefers to work with. All along he had suggested that I purchase the additional services of a private detective to check the history of the alleged victim, which I declined. He must have used his own funds to get a criminal history of the victim and, as it turns out, the victim had been charged with falsifying a police report; whereby assault was alleged in the past. The alleged attacker happened to be elsewhere during the alleged attack, the police officer proved the story was completely made up. On the Friday before the Monday trial date, Eric approached the district attorney with that fact and instead of a felony conviction with two years probation, fines and classes, I was offered time served including 5 months of back time. But it didn't stop there, Eric stated repeatedly that he would be prepared to take the case to trial and would do it for free. He even had another attorney that was to also participate in the trial. I recommend Eric, because he went above and beyond in my case. My only complaint is that he didn't do the private detective sooner, that might have allowed him to be ready in October, saving me 2 months in jail. But, after all he is all about winning trials, so that's the reason he agreed to work for free and paid the private detective out of his own pocket.
