About Kelly
Biography
I have been working as a lawyer since 1989, and began my family law career in 1991 after leaving the Nueces County District Attorney's Office where I was a felony prosecutor. My philosophy is to help families obtain a fresh start, without creating irreparable harm. Specifically, I like to teach my clients about the law so they can be active and informed in their settlements. I know they will most likely have a relationship with their former spouse, especially where children are concerned. I know if everyone is participates and is in agreement with the outcome, there are fewer ackward moments after the divorce is final. Afterall, you don't stop being parents even when the kids turn 18. I know from personal experience as I am a mother (son born 1991) and step mother (daughter born 1991).
However, if my opposing counsel or opposing party throws the first punch, I am in full offense mode, ready to defend my clients and go to battle for them. I just prefer that to be the last resort, not the first.
I wrote a column in the society page of the Caller-Times for three years and am active in the community, most currently as a Clown Who Cares, volunteering at Driscoll Children's Hospital each month.

Do not pay consult fee-save your money
We were told that the consultation would be $275 for an hour of time, well when it came time to talk with this Attorney it soon became clear we made a HUGE mistake! We certainly did not receive an hour of time (more like 20 minutes) and throughout the consultation we were rushed, put on hold multiple...

Replied last October 21, 2015My office schedules consultations, and tells the potential client that I will talk with them for as long as it takes to assess the case and determine what, if any, legal action I can help with. Sometimes it takes more than an hour, many times it takes less. Once I am the official attorney and the original documents are filed, we spend a lot of time together preparing the case. I meet with clients during lunch and after hours to accommodate their schedule and to insure we have enough time. Sometimes it's important to start the case quickly so as not to miss filing deadlines, and we fill in the history at the second meeting. I'm sorry this person did not have a good experience. Sometimes I focus on the result rather than being polite. Many clients thank me for being blunt and to the point, because it actually saves them money. I'm sorry this client did not appreciate my style, and I hope s/he found a more compatible attorney.
