Would Not Recommend

I used Mr. Obermeier’s services a few years ago and never came back to write a review as I was still going through my process and was not in a great mental space. However, I wanted to come back and leave my fair review. Mr. Obermeier has good people skills for the most part, but at times can be a lit...tle dry and condescending. I used him for family law. I wouldn’t recommend him for that. I was trying to remove my child out of a violent and hazardous environment. He compared my case to his personal life with his ex wife denying him visitation since he’d had an affair and child with Lisa Leal. She is also on this app, but since she was not acting as an attorney and more as a paralegal, I am not leaving her a review. Mr. Obermeier’s paralegal at the time, Lisa, had also made comments about how the state is really trying to honor father rights and when I expressed grievances about my representation, she got defensive and told me she was biased because “Matt” was the father of her child. At the time she made these comments, I still was not fully understanding what she was talking about because I was so wrapped up in my own case that I was paying them for. Additionally, Mr. Obermeier’s choice for a mediator, Randy Alwais, was absolutely not a great choice for me. Mr. Alwais was more focused on being a comedian and when I began to cry as I felt completely defeated in trying to protect my child from a predator, he berated me. Mr. Alwais told me “oh no Ma’am, we’re not going to do that (crying)” and coached me into signing an agreement I did not want to sign. I felt like Mr. Obermeier did not protect me in that situation at all. Overall, it was an awful experience. The Obermeier’s made a point to express their relationship issues and biases about father rights. I did not feel protected or supported; matter of fact, I felt like I was being attacked from the opposing party’s end as well as my end.

Highly Recommend!

Having Matt as an attorney was truly a blessing. I have never met anyone in my life as empathetic as Matt. He understands the trying times of divorce/child custody and guides you the entire way helping you stay on path. His attention to detail is phenomenal and so is his dedication to getting things ...right. Matt made himself available to talk, text, or email at all hours, especially ones of emergency. He guided me through the legal process and helped me assess my situation in order to focus on the most important topics. Lastly, his familiarity with the military pay system, military law, and military in general was a huge relief. I didn’t have to explain any pay/retirement related rules or acronyms to him at all. I definitely recommend Matt Obermeier 100% to any military member or parent seeking legal counsel during a divorce or custody battle.

Will and Trust

This is a one of a kind attorney. When you call you get HIM...not a receptionist or secretary. He answers immediately. If he is busy, he will tell you what is going on and calls back by the end of the day. Unlike many attorneys I have dealt with, he responds and acts immediately. I highly respec...t him and his compassion with dealing with intimate family affairs. If you want a GREAT attorney who walks along side with you...this is the one you want. I can't give him more than 5 stars...if I could, I would. Trust this man..he will take care of you and will be available to help you. Thank you Matt...you are the best.

Family Troubles

I recently came into a family disagreement in regards to a property I owned. The issue escalated and I found myself needing to seek legal counseling. I was unfamiliar with everything that was happening. I was referred to Matthew, when I called his office he spoke to me personally at that time. I was... stressed and pressing for time. Matthew agreed to meet the next day which happened to be a Saturday. I discussed the situation with Matthew. After I speaking with Matthew I felt comfortable and trusted him helping me with my case. Matthew was very nice, professional, and made me feel he cared. I also felt after speaking with Matthew he had the experience needed to take on this unique but similar case. During the course of my case, Matthew tired many ways to settle the issue without having to go to court. Matthew had to deal with two difficult parties throughout this case. My profession has a difficult and congested schedule especially at this time. Matthew would make arrangements to help work around my schedule in addition he would communicate with me himself. I felt Matthew made time for me. The other party continuously would have issues, example not having legal representation some of the time. Matthew showed respect to the other party and was very professional in every matter. Matthew was straight forward when talking with me about the case, outcomes, etc, (even when Matthew knew I would not like what I was being told) I do not feel he was just there for the money. I let Matthew know I did not want to see this family member unless it was a have to situation. Matthew was able to make this happen, only time I saw this family member was in court. In my situation any outcome was going to end with somebody getting hurt. After the case ended, Matthew went above and beyond to assist me with the last meeting with this family member. Matthew had his assistant meet this family member at my property to reduce the tension and stress that would have occurred if I had to go in person. I was very satisfied and happy I had picked Matthew as my lawyer.

Unfortunately, the tenants did not prevail in this case; however, it's instructive on what courts may require of a tenant to prove that a landlord acted in bad faith when failing to return a security deposit within the time proscribed by law.
