Marilee supported me continuously over the course of a twelve month divorce. A few years ago I received a very retaliatory property tax appraisal on my home from the Appraisal District. They were taxing my home at almost 8x its real value, and it seemed they were doing this 1. because they thought they could get away with it and 2. because I exercised my right to not let them... onto my property or into my home and this upset them for some reason. I guess they felt they needed to put me in my place. They basically said if I wanted a fair appraisal I would have to let them into my home, but at the same time they said the law does not require me to let them into my home to receive a fair appraisal. I complained to the top dog of the Appraisal District after getting railroaded at the Appraisal Review Board Hearing, and the gist of his response was that I could either let them into my home or take them to District Court. So...I tried to take them to District Court but they surrendered to Marilee before we ever got there! Sure, they bluffed for a while but it did not take long for them to realize it was hopeless and they gave me the appraisal we thought was appropriate. This reduced my taxes from over $5000 to less than $1000. It was huge. And if I had just given up, I would have paid about $20,000 in excess taxes since then and it would have only gone up from there. Moreover, while the people at the Appraisal District and on the Appraisal Review Board treated me with such an offensive, dismissive attitude at the hearing, their attitudes changed dramatically and immediately once they saw Marilee was in my corner. Marilee put them firmly back into their place and they've stayed there to this day.

Marilee is an outstanding attorney. I think of her as my "pit bull" in the courtroom. She is very informative, knowledgeable and fights for what is right.
