Wolf in sheep's clothing

Promises made at the first consultation, where the $5,000 absolutely non-refundable 'advanced fee' (not retainer, mind you)was paid were not kept. The children's amicus saved us time and again. Do your homework...read reviews before handing over your funds and your trust. Too many complaints can't b...e all wrong. If you wouldn't knowingly trust a so so doctor with your child's life, you shouldn't trust your child's life to a so so attorney. Just my opinion.

Not as advertised

My husband and I hired Julie Ketterman in Fall 2015 to represent us in seeking custody of our granddaughter. Before paying the $5000 retainer, we were assured that the time sensitive manner of our case would be a top priority and receive her firm's full attention. After paying the retainer, we would ...only hear from her two times despite countless attempts on our part to obtain information on the progress of the case. When we first approached Julie, our daughter (the mother of our newborn granddaughter) was in a rehabilitation clinic and set to be released the following week. We expressed the importance of achieving communication with her prior to her release from the clinic. Julie assured us that she could accomplish this despite the visitation restrictions at the clinic. She never spoke or met with our daughter and did not contact us until the following week to say her phone calls had not been returned (although she had promised to drive to the clinic in person), but that she was still optimistic with our case and would contact us soon with more information. After several weeks of unanswered emails and phone calls trying to figure out what the next steps would be, a paralegal at the firm called and explained he was taking over the case. He apologized and said that he was taking over after several other paralegals were relieved from their positions, but that he would make sure the case received appropriate attention moving forward. Again, we were assured we were a top priority and that we would be updated on any and all future progress. We heard from him again the following day, confirming he was pulling the details of the case together, but communication after this point also stopped. We contacted the firm several more times to no avail before firing Julie Ketterman and losing the $5000 retainer. The very painful and exhausting process of seeking custody of our granddaughter was unfortunately only worsened by the unprofessional and unethical hiring of Ketterman's firm. I can only hope that this account will spare others from the frustration and disappointment experienced by my family.

DO NOT HIRE

Julie Ketterman has bad reviews, when asked about them before I hired her she said it was because the client did not do what she said. However, I hired her anyway and everything written in the bad reviews are TRUE. She does not return phone calls, or emails. She did not tell me about court dates beca...use she was busy in trial. People are desperate too find a good CPS lawyer and due to her advertisements we are fooled. She did NOT do one thing for me. I was only trying to get unsupervised visits with my grandchildren. It drug out now 9 months and NOTHING. She should be ashamed of her self. Do not believe the BS she tells you. Please. It is not worth the added heartbreak she will cause you. BEWARE.

RUN!!!!

When I hired Ms. Ketterman she assured me she was a "bull dog" and would fight the good fight against CPS. Like others, I asked about the bad reviews. I was told alot of it was from her ex-daughter in law. She talked a good game so we hired her. BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE!!!!!!!! I rarely talked t...o her, usually her assistant. She kept us out of the courtroom, showed up late, didn't show up at all, and sent her assistant in her place. WE got the organization that investigates CPS involved and told her that they felt CPS did wrong but the couldn't do anything until the case was closed.....she did NOTHING with this information. When I got fed up and started asking questions about why things weren't getting done she decided to remove herself from my case because I didn't trust her. I told her that she had given me nothing to trust and that was more than fine by me. However, by this time she had done so much damage my new attorney, who is now a judge, could barely recover. Thanks to him I can at least see my children! So my advice; run....don't walk...to another attorney.

Unorganized and lies to your face

Hired this excuse for a lawyer and on our first court date didn't even show up. Luckily, my wife's lawyer covered me free of charge to avoid embarrassment on my end. Hired her in December and didn't even meet her until 2nd court date in February, where she was late and unorganized and unaware of what... was going on. At that court date she talked big and held her hand open for more money. 3rd court date she didn't even show up and sent some lawyer from a different firm that wouldn't even talk to me. No show at mediation until I got a call 30 minutes after so her receptionist could listen in and "take notes". This lawyer preys on your weak state and takes advantage of you. Try calling her at anytime and she will be "On a flight". Still got a bill for 7500 dollars for one court appearance. Was told she filed all this stuff in my name, never got a record or proof of it. BEWARE OF THIS LAZY ATTORNEY!
