I cannot express my gratitude enough for JL. If it wasn’t for her my life would be in a very dark place right now. Five stars is not high enough for her and her professional staff ( Crystal) after spending several hours researching defense attorneys I concluded that she was the lawyer that I wanted d...efending me. After being charged with that I then turned around and was charged with a misdemeanor on charges for failure to give information for a accident I was involved in. Jennifer rolled up her sleeves and went to work, and wow did she! Exceeded all my expectations on the DWI charge and got the misdemeanor dismissed! After being stuck in the Harris County court system by an ex-girlfriend and an over-zealous prosecution team, with little more than a brief visit together and one appearance in court with her, JL had the charges dismissed and I was finally a free man. After a verbal altercation with an ex-girlfrie...nd back in June 2017, I used an up an coming lawyer whom was referred to me by my divorce attorney. With limited experience, very few strong relationships and lack of confidence in the courtroom, I finally agreed to deferred adjudication for criminal trespassing in mid-October 2017. I was placed on 18 months probation. If this was not enough, my ex-girlfriend then took a huge step further and won a case for a restraining order. I used a family law attorney referred to me by my previous criminal attorney for the trespassing case. After a few hours in family court, we lost that one as well. Only two weeks after her criminal trespassing win in which she sobbed uncontrollably and stated she feared for her life, my ex-girlfriend went searching for me on Halloween night in 2017 and subsequently found me at an area bar where I had gone to participate in a costume contest. She immediately pointed me out to two men she walked in with but proceeded to the bar only a few stools away anyway. After acknowledging her, I approached her and asked her to leave. When she did not respond and ordered a beer instead, I told her to leave. I repeated this with profanity several times until I threatened violence if she did not leave. The bar staff asked us both to leave and each of us did. I found out the next morning that she had video-taped the entire interaction and shared it with the police earlier that night. After 3 and a half months of not seeing or hearing from her, I thought I had finally gotten her to leave me alone. Until one Friday night I got a text from my previous criminal lawyer saying there would be a warrant for my arrest by Monday and I should be prepared to post bond before I get arrested. I was charged with terroristic threat on Monday, posted bond on Tuesday and was then set for court the very next day. When I arrived, I was immediately arrested on a new charge of probation violation with a $50,000 bond. I bonded out and was again set for court on the two new charges the morning after my release. Reluctant to show up in criminal court with my previous lawyer, I appeared at arraignment without him. The judge recognized me from my appearance in her courtroom the day before and stated "Oh, you are a re-run. Why are you back here without a lawyer?" Explaining I was just released the night before, she barked, "I don't care where you came from. I just asked why you don't have a lawyer." Clearly in her usual temperament I simply asked to be given more time and I was given 2 weeks to find a lawyer. After multiple interviews, I had no problem deciding to hire JL. She had the professional experience, the necessary relationships and the confidence required to work in Harris County's hostile courts. After a 30 minute interview, JL presented two plans (Plan A and a Plan B). Plan A was to attempt to get the charges dismissed as it was clear to her that my ex-girlfriend had provoked the whole incident. Court was set for the next week. JL made sure I had arrived in time for docket call and then marched into the court a half hour later announcing to me, the ADA and eventually the judge the charges need to be dismissed and it is her client that is being harassed. The judge didn't give it a second thought and dismissed both charges. JL is the Best in Houston. I have complete confidence in her ability to defend all area Houstonians.
