Some attorneys are pushy and start barking orders at you when a divorce is going down, and make the divorce way more stressful than it already is. Not Teresa. She guided, informed, and let me call the shots based on my situation. She formed a plan, and told me what she needed from me to get the desi...red results I wanted. She answered all my questions, and we were overly prepared for everything to go my way by the time we were standing in a courtroom. Don't get me wrong, she can be a pit bull if you need her to be, but at least she gives you the choice. Most attorneys will prepare you as if you're going into hand-to-hand combat. Teresa formulates a plan that covers all the bases so issues are stamped out before they can happen, no combat needed. I didn't ask for the divorce, but I got everything I ask for in the divorce (actually more than I asked for). I recommend her to anyone that wants good representation in a courtroom.

I had heard outstanding things about Teresa DeFord from a close friend. I had just been through a highly controversial divorce without adequate representation so I needed the best of the best. I was extremely impressed with her paralegal when I booked the consultation with Mrs DeFord She was extrem...ely knowledgeable and encouraging and helpful however Due to COVID-19 I was booked a week out for a phone consult. Mr. Ford called promptly at the scheduled time but not only had very little input shedidn't ask very many questions. After mentioning my ex-husband had primarily taken all of the money the consulate sped up and i was rushed off the phone. Mrs Deford gave me an extremely false impression that she was going to call me back after reviewing my case. her computer was down so she could not pull up the decree so she had me send her all the information via email and said she would get back to me with in a few days. After four days had gone by I called received the answering machine so I left a message I waited a few more days without a return call and called again I spoke to the lovely paralegal and she assured me she pass on the message I've repeated this process more than three times and have still yet to receive any kind of Phone call email or word as to her professional opinion on which avenue I should proceed. I felt as though I had done something wrong or perhaps upset her by forwarding too much information. i was left feeling inadequate and like a failure, I'm still left wondering what hope I might have.

Do yourself a favor and spend the money on a worthy attorney. I was so overwhelmed during the whole divorce process and needed an attorney to cover all bases for me seeing as I was paying her to represent the best interests of my child and me. There are so many things she let slip through the cracks... that are now working against me. She was great at first, seemed to really care. Then once she received my retainer fee, her communication and efforts seemed to dwindle down to 'who cares, I've been paid'. She would take days (once it was a week) to return emails and phone calls. I never received the requested itemized invoice showing how much of my retainer had been used (promised to me in the contract I signed) until it was quickly all gone, not much had been accomplished, and she was asking for more money. Then I felt like she pushed me into mediation so that she could make even more money off of me. I did more 'due diligence' and had more strategy than she ever came up with. I likely could have represented myself better and saved myself the small fortune I spent on her. I have spoken with divorced friends/co-workers who had much better representation and were appalled at the lack of representation I received.
