Strategic approach. No frills.

Bryan was strategic and thoughtful in his approach to both my divorce and custody case. Sometimes, strategy truly makes all the difference. I wasn’t sure what to expect going into the process, but in the end, I achieved the outcome that was best for my children. I regularly recommend Bryan to others ...and will continue to do so.

Destroyed my life

Because of his inadequate preparation, investigation, & dedication his total complacency shines quite remarkably in my decree. A little background my ex and I are both 39 years old, prior military, air traffic controllers, made about $250,000 a year. both disabled veterans both educated both human.... we wanted a family so I gave up my career to raise our children while he gave up family and raised his career. we both made that decision. we moved all around the country chasing promotions to better "our" future. i'm just going to put it out there since brian already has but 5 years ago i Received DUI while my kids were in the car. i know how this does paint me as the bad parent however thati am not! i do not now nor have i ever taken it lightly & ultimately I'm hoping the only reason or excuse that Brian was so prejudice, oblivious and complacent in my case. The intricacies of my ex husband's manipulation are to crazy to get into but this was second time, after moving to texas mid 1st divorce he Realized what a financial train wreck of a move it was for him to file while selling our duplex for a nice profit. he said "let's stay married" i being a lame said "ok love" we bought a brand new home here got tons of new stuff yet i was stuck in idaho due to DUI, Brian suggested I move back here as fast as possible so the day that I could leave I did, yet only to be locked out, lied about to the kids, w/no money i was forced to live in hotels, my ex was breaking every standing order known to man plus allowing the children to be supervised and cared for by a lovely and sweet 20 yr old pot smoker, instead of me. brianstarts with A very high energetic extremely fast-paced optimistic consultation, Once you retain him do not expect to talk to him again until the day before mediation & unless you've spoken with his paralegal you probably have no idea what it is or what happens and that's because his overly blasé approach to it & how easy it is. at no time does he hold true to anything he said he will make sure goes into the decree or we go before the judge. I had video proof of the nanny talking to him about her drug use, All I wanted in the decree was drug testing so I knew my kids were safe when they were not with me. instead of brian putting in effort having things done right the first time he glorifies modification in mediation DONT BELIEVE IT, after the first long day of mediation they have me sign a piece of paper that we did mediation that day, We came back a 2nd day and I still didn't get any of my issues addressed yet he had me sign again I was more skeptical this time because I didn't understand what the heck was going on but was told we were coming back again for personal property and we would discuss it then. Brian's words were"unless you're ready to get $18,000 right now to chance trail i need to sign so we can all go home" Later that day I learned from my ex that that was the final thing and it was done I tried calling Brian, no word until court. i'm non-primary joint conservator who's paying $14,000 to X for tx house to live in with our kids who i should have. & I live in an apartment that I can no longer afford because the savings was the only money brian insured me & it's gone, I have no job, I pay $500mo in child sup. healthcare and monthly cost of our rental house in Alaska, I do not get to claim a kid, I do not get them for a bracket of time in the summer, i got 1/2 savings and ret. I had to pay back car insurance he got 7 bank accounts hid more & I received half of one. no property was ever done so my entire life theX refuses to let me have finds it hilarious Brian was a coward in court and let this all go through i told the judge i disagreed &he got mad, instead of getting it corrected. Take a look Brian, you said it would be just fine... he makes $250,000 keeps it all, kids & i homeless!...the kids are sad &confused, i can't find that job, i can't see kids ever, we're RUINED! you?? Awesome lawyering

Thank you for taking the time to post your thoughts. When we first spoke on April 18, 2019, you told me that for the prior year and a half, you were living in Idaho while your husband and 2 children were living in Texas. In that time, you had only seen your children once because your husband thought you were a danger due to your alcohol abuse. You informed me that you are indeed an alcoholic and have twice been arrested for felony DUI. One instance resulted in injuries to others and the other instance your children were in the car. You served significant jail time because of this. You have been in recovery for 4 years with multiple relapses, you attended various inpatient alcohol treatment programs, you were on criminal bond being investigated (and potentially revoked) because you hit someone with your car at a Wal Mart and fled the scene of an accident. On top of all that, your husband found drugs in your jacket pocket and was making plans to move the children to Washington, DC, seriously affecting your ability to have any meaningful relationship with your children. To say we had a great deal of work to do is an understatement. Yours is the perfect example of a very difficult case other lawyers would avoid. I specialize in the most challenging of cases involving drugs and alcohol and during our initial meeting, I outlined a plan of reunification with your children. I indicated it would not be easy, but if you were committed and followed the procedures I recommended, we would have the highest chance of success at trial. Much to your credit, you followed the plan and 3 months after we first spoke, we attended mediation where you secured an agreement for unsupervised possession of the children - seeing them nearly 50% of the time. Additionally, your husband could not move the children to Washington, DC, you paid less than guideline child support, received 50% of all property, etc. This is all part of the public record in cause number 18-10-13717, and your agreement avoided a costly custody trial. I am sorry to learn of your current issues but I am proud of the efforts by my firm to meet your initial expectations and secure a reunification with your children.

Former client

My wife and I both hired Bryan for cases with our ex-spouses going on at the same time. Absolutely the worst prepared attorney I’ve ever seen and could not properly ask the most critical question we needed to defend what was in my original decree. It was embarrassing to see how bad he was in court an...d cost me not only the extra time with my kids I had fought for 7 years ago, an extra $100,000 in support payments. Not only was his billing significantly in excess of what he originally “thought” it would take, he was simply out lawyered!! And the same for my wife’s case. Not sure about other areas of law, but if it’s family based, RUN as fast as you can away from this so called attorney.

Terry - thank you for your review. Initially, it is important to point out, as you say in your review, that both you and your wife hired me for different cases, and you hired me after your wife. This means that you had full knowledge of my firm and its services in the handling of your wife's case before you elected to hire my firm. If my firm was really as terrible as you indicate in your review, you would not have hired us. The real reason you post your review is that you are not happy with the Judge's ruling at trial. Anytime a party elects not to settle at mediation for the chance of getting a better result at trial, there are always additional costs and risk. You were fully aware of the costs as we had numerous discussions about my firm's efforts in presenting your case at trial. You were also fully aware of the risks as we spent much time before and during mediation analyzing how nothing is guaranteed when you go to court and sometimes you get a worse result than what was offered at mediation. After the trial, we had many discussions about an appeal of the Judge's ruling, which I recommended and you rejected. I am always willing to take difficult cases to trial and do not shy away from custody battles in court. No attorney wins every case he takes to trial and the best thing an attorney can do is ensure his client is fully informed. Ultimately, you made the call to accept both the costs and risks to go to trial. To second-guess a Judge's decision made eight months ago by posting such a review is not reflective of your feedback throughout the case or the efforts of my firm to meet your demands.

Excellent divorce attorney

Bryan did an outstanding job representing me in my recent divorce case. He is honest, knowledgeable, and unafraid. While I was very happy with Bryan's firm approach in representing my interests in all facets of my case, I was most impressed with his sensitivity and kindness concerning custody issue...s. Bryan is a strong, confident attorney with an excellent staff. I have recommended him to a number of friends.

Do Not Hire

We hired this "lawyer" for a child custody case. His performance, in court, was extremely poor. He did not bring out much, of any, the evidence we had supplied him with. After the bench trial, he would no longer return phone calls, e-mails, etc. Very unprepared at trial and did not ask meaningful que...stions of witnesses. DO NOt HIRE! Money earmarked for certain paperwork was used by him for something else.
