My case was insane, probably just too much for this small firm.

I put a lot of thought into this and there are ZERO hard feelings here. It's been months since the decree was signed, so this is not written in haste or emotion. It is to hopefully help another parent out there in a similar situation to choose better than I did. My rating is reflective of my very... particular highly contentious divorce with a very difficult person that I did not initiate, so defensive position with a super unreasonable person kicking off the whole mess. Long story short: I like Brian and his office as people but if you are a dad who has been ambushed with a totally unnecessary divorce by a totally uncompromising narcissist hell bent on destroying you or at least fleecing you with zero regard for the children except to use them as leverage don't hire these guys. To Brian's credit I was told a custody case without any real obvious disqualifiers was going to be like 50-75 THOUSAND dollars. And me, knowing nothing about any of this willing to do anything for my children said stay the course. So, that's on me but really my issue isn't with the cost. I'd give anything for my children, the issue I had is that the value didn't really match up with the cost. I want to be clear about this, I like Brian and I think he's a good honest guy but I think there are some inefficiencies that may make messier cases a challenge. He's a very skilled negotiator but when faced with a shark on the other side with a completely unreasonable person … you're gonna pay a lot to have a hard time. If you have a deal to work out or a contract to write brian can totally do that but if you need someone to be in your corner fighting tooth and nail to protect you and your children I strongly advise you to look elsewhere. One key moment in one mediation I was informed something that was very harmful to my plan when they had the data for a year before that. You'd think after tens of thousands of dollars people would know your case in and out and review all the stuff you send… but it didn't happen. I will put it this way. After tens of thousands of dollars, my keeping impeccable notes, giving them tons of data by the time trial date rolled around I had lost so much faith in Brian's willingness to go to the mat for me that I settled out of court. I know its one of those "any given sunday" kind of deals because judges basically ultimately go with their opinions as they interpret the law but that's why faith in your attorney is so important. If you want a shark, if you need someone who will cut no corners in the pursuit of exactly what you need and lose sleep over it because your family has been fed into the psychological-wood-chipper that is the divorce industry i strongly urge you to look elsewhere.

Douglas, I am limited in what I can say by the rules governing lawyers. I never sign a mediated settlement agreement (MSA) before my client. If a client signs an MSA, they do so first so there's no pressure. All MSA’s are signed voluntarily after thorough and candid advice. You signed an MSA on Nov. 22, 2024. Trial was scheduled on December 3rd and we were 100% ready. Two months later, an agreed divorce decree was filed with your signature. We filed your initial appearance in the divorce in June 2023. During the 17 months until you signed the MSA, you could have substituted another lawyer. We would have transferred your file and conferred to ensure they understood the case. A few months into our representation, you rated us 5 stars and gave a glowing review. The only change is you regret the agreement you made. I recall nothing new being learned at mediation. Mediators emphasize the weaknesses of each party’s case. Maybe something the mediator said struck a nerve, but nothing new was disclosed. I suspect I know the provision you are having trouble with, and you were firmly advised before choosing to sign the MSA and divorce decree. Ultimately, you don’t like what you agreed to and have chosen to blame us. You could have switched lawyers or gone to trial. Nobody made you sign the MSA or the divorce decree, and we were prepared for trial. Because divorce disrupts life, nobody is delighted with the outcome. Whether an agreement is signed or a judge decides at a trial, each party gets some of what they want and not everything they ask for. Trial is unpredictable. If we could predict the outcome, we would skip the process and write the judgment. It’s also expensive, so I candidly advise my client and then accept their decision. I cannot insist a client try their case when I cannot guarantee the outcome despite thorough preparation and 100% effort. The client must live with the outcome and whether to risk a trial. Even though some regret their decision, it’s unethical and inappropriate to impose my judgment over theirs in a decision they must live with that affects their life and their children’s lives. It’s easier for some to blame their lawyer than accept the decision they made after receiving candid and thorough advice. Brian McNamara

Excellent Attorney and Law Firm

Going through divorce for almost eighteen months with a couple of attorneys before hiring Mr. Brian McNamara, was nothing short of a nightmare. Mr. McNamara and his firm came to my rescue!! He and his firm were always available and handled my divorce, custody, as well as various other legal matters,... professionally and in a timely manner. I highly recommend Brian McNamara and his Firm to anyone who needs sound legal advice.

Great experience

After having consulted 3 attorneys, I'm very pleased that I made the best decision by choosing Brian McNamara who protected my right to provided better welfare to my child by moving with me from the state of Texas to the state of Florida by.."Lifting of geographic restriction". As a lawyer, he is a g...reat listener, very professional and competent in his legal skills. He explained firmly the law and every step that we needed to take. His paralegal Janette Gama, made the entire process run smoothly, even on the virtual court day through Zoom. The phone calls and e-mails were done without delay. McNamara Law office have an outstanding service, I definitely recommend it!!

Do not hire.

I can only beg everyone to not hire this law firm, especially Brian McNamara himself. I am a father of two little girls that are safe and sound against all odds even after fighting a mother in Texas because of my decision to fire Brian 4 weeks after hiring him. Like 95% of attorneys out there, the h...iring process was quick and simple and 5,000$ was transferred. From that day on my children's safety was placed on the back burner and the only focus was on what money and assets I had to split. I lucked out. I found the "5%". Meaning I found an attorney that changed the game and protected my children and myself all the way into a victory. I found an attorney that answers the phone and did the job you pay them to do. I found someone that took my payment and did the job with integrity and tenacity. They are out there. You will not find that commitment here. I thank God I had the courage to fire these people. It is unfortunately very scary for common people to go through the family law, legal system. Trust me, I would know. Once you have seen this “wild west” vision of the legal system called family law (THAT NEEDS REFORM), you can separate the crooks who think they are untouchable, from those working for YOU. There are not many good guys in the legal game unfortunately. It is a pile of so-called untouchables hiding behind law degrees and the latest golf tournament standings or family law convention mixers. The only way we can fight back is to not give our money to law firms like this. Please adhere this warning. Do your research. Always remember, they work for YOU. I do not want my money back. I am successful enough. I just do not want to see other children put in danger by making this mistake.
