When I hired attorney Okoh-Brown I had not seen my kids in 10 months, even though I had an attorney. I was dealing with an unfair judge who hated me and took my kids away because I had filed CPS reports when my youngest child kept telling me that his step-brother had molested him. Lisa was my 4th a...ttorney on a long drawn out saga. She was outraged that I had not seen my kids and immediately filed an emergency motion to get into court. We had a hearing and the psychologist on the case had finally agreed to let me have unsupervised visits after being late almost 9 months in writing a report (this was why i had not seen then and my former attorney never took anything to court to let the judge know this). The lawyers all agreed we should have a temporary agreement based on the psychologist report because the judge will always follow the recommendation of the psychologist. Dad, said NO! Lisa witnessed how much the judge hated me. So what did Lisa do? She filed a motion to remove the judge from the case! All of her colleagues told her they never do that. She said her job is not to make the judge happy and kiss the judge's butt...her job is to fight for her client. Well the judge was not removed but after that she was SUPER NICE to Lisa and me, always. This case went to trial. 11 days by Jury for custody of my kids and Lisa fought against 2 male attorneys (one was the amicus who was always on the side of dad's attorney because they were friends). Also the new psychologist sided with them and had a long history of people doing what he recommended. Lisa was a warrior in that court room. mentally quick, smart in coming up with strategy and gave the most compelling closing arguments with 12 big exhibits for the jury, outlining the case. At the end of the day I got my kids back and after the case, the jury only wanted to speak to Lisa! Even though all the attorneys asked to talk to them. So if you want an attorney who will fight for you and treat your case like their own, I can highly recommend Lisa Okoh-Brown. She is smart, compassionate and she will not back down. I hired The Okoh-Brown Law Group in 2010 when the U.S. government sent me a notice to come to court for removal/deportation proceedings. From the moment I meet Ms. Okoh-Brown I could tell she was a fighter and she promised she would fight for me. I am from Mauritius and I have been in the u.s. for ...many years and have a wife and children here. The thought of having to leave them was very upsetting to me. My case was very complicated and the attorney for the government did not want the immigration judge to approve my application to get my green card in stay in the country. When Ms. Okoh-Brown called on October 27, 2014 to tell me that the Judge had granted my application despite the government's opposition, she and I celebrated the victory. Ms. Okoh-Brown takes her cases personally and she is invested in the outcome of the case. It was a victory for both of us and I am eternally grateful for her and her assistant Mayra, for all the hard work, dedication, care, professionalism and just keeping me updated every step of the way. My case really started over 25 years ago when I came to this country from the Caribbean. Being naive I was fooled into being involved with a situation that created long-lasting consequences in my life. I paid the other attorney five times, yes 5 times, what I paid her and got no results and now because of her I have my life back again. There are no words as I said, none that can express how I feel and what this means to me and there is absolutely no way I can ever thank her but for her I know doing a job well and knowing that she is making a difference to help immigrants in this country is thanks enough.
