Uncooperative

Had a consultation with Mr. Morris and because I decided not to hire him as my attorney as I believed he was not a good fit for my needs based on how the consultation went. I paid for his time immediately after we finished (including a verbal application for basic info gathering that could have been ...completed beforehand which is how most every other professional service firm handles ) and was sent an electronic receipt. I have a legal plan that reimburses (only partial in this case as Mr. Morris is out of network ) but needed an actual invoice. I requested the invoice via email and heard nothing back for a few weeks. I then called Brad to see if he received my request and would provide the invoice and was told this would be too much effort as I decided not to hire him and his software program was not set up for consultations only hired attorney. He went on to say if I drafted an invoice on his behalf he would consider signing it. I was a bit taken aback by this but I went ahead and honored his request yet have not received the signed invoice. I am satisfied I made the absolute right decision with hiring another attorney.

This comment follows an initial consultation that took 2 hours of detailed conversation with a husband and wife about the procedural choices that they had to make to get a divorce. At the end of he conversation, husband paid my fee for the consultation and I provided a receipt for the payment tendered at the time. After the meeting the husband called to inform me that he had chosen not to hire me. Many days later he called asking for an invoice for the conversation. He was not my client. I provide itemized invoices for clients. I declined to draft one, but suggested that I would sign one for him if he prepared it and sent it to me. He did so and I signed it an returned it to him. He now complains that he had to prepare an invoice. I would have gladly represented him in his divorce and he would have been billed monthly for my services. He chose to look elsewhere, I consider his comment on this billboard to confirm my thought afterwards that I was grateful that he chose to go elsewhere. I greatly enjoy helping people that want my help and can say that I have been do so, without any negative comments from any clients for almost 40 years.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
