My case started several years ago and not knowing the process or the horror stories of the legal system I was very scared, I first went to Jeff Eaves after a couple of visits with other attorneys. My case was a burglary. I had no money due to a long-drawn-out divorce that was allowing my former spo...use to control all the books and money. I was desperate for some food and was too proud to ask. It was a stupid mistake and as the saying goes, “desperate people do desperate things”. I did and I was sorry for my mistake and admitted what had occurred. Jeff and Oscar were great in getting it resolved. I had another court case in small claims court, and I handled it myself where there was another accusation thrown at me. I was mad and upset and wrongfully blamed others. It was not the way as painted by my accuser. I was arrested and scared. Contacted an attorney who several of the inmates recommended while spending the night in jail. I paid the fee and listened to Mr. Payne’s sweet talk. Then 2 days prior to my probation ending a violation of probation was filed. I had a perfect record and never missed check in dates with both the bond and probation individuals. The Mr. Payne never presented me with offers from the Assistant DA while all the while telling me we can beat this. So, I waited until I had a hearing to violate my probation. I had pictures, a witness who passed and emails showing it was a vendetta because the accuser was a friend of my ex-wife and her boyfriend. Mr. Payne did not present a defense and I did not know that your standards of proof are not the same as they are when you are not on probation. I lost and my probation was violated. The Assistant DA was pushing for jail time of 2 years. I was very angry when I got a call from Mr. Payne and he said take it! You will not get a better offer. I hung up the phone. I was so angry and devastated that I reached back out to Jeff Eaves and what a God Send! He and Oscar got in and did some highly remarkable damage control. They salvaged a case and a person who felt like there was nothing to live for. I have 2 types of cancer and other medical issues as well as a great career and just thought I would be defined by this for the rest of my live by a conviction. They saved the day and never gave up on me nor my case. They have stood by my side and are still there as we resolve some minor issues. I have not let this ruin my life nor define me. Like Jeff says on his website “the prosecutor and law officials ARE NOT on your side.” I will make myself available to tell anyone of the need to hire no other than Jeff Eaves for any legal issue. Jeff, Oscar, and Anika were God sent in my predicament. I was charged with possession of cannabis 5-50lbs and was facing hard prison time. Not only did Jeff negotiate a deal for me that got me probation instead of prison time(I got to stay in my home state of Florida during the time as well when I wa...s charged in Wichita Falls, Texas), but he also was able to help me get my sentence terminated 4 years early so I only had to serve 2 years community supervision instead of 6. I am currently on a 3 year probation for a drug related 1st offense felony charge. I was recently arrested for a probation violation due to several dirty UA's over the course of two years. 1 for alcohol and 3 for benzos, which I now have a prescription for. A year prior to this violation I was mandat...ed to see a Helen Farabee doctor by my probation officer to sort out my insomnia and anxiety. After trying 6 to 7 different medications throughout the past year nothing was working. I was being completely upfront and honest with my PO each and every visit about the Helen Farabee medication not working and, if my mother had given me one of her Xanax that particular month. After a year of trying it their way, I finally made an appointment with a doctor unaffiliated with Helen Farabee and explained everything to him about all the different meds I've tried and my current legal situation. That day he prescribed me Klonopin and Prozac. I immediately emailed my PO a copy of each prescription and told her I feel confident I'm finally on the right set of medication. But low and behold, my PO called me upon receiving my email and told me she had wished I would have been 2 days quicker because she had violated my probation and that I should expect a warrant to be issued for my arrest and that they're recommending I be sent to a 9 month rehab boot camp type facility. Completely freaked out and overwhelmed I did some research online and came across several attorney's I was going to call and get a feel for. The minute I called Jeff's office and talked to Oscar, from that point on I realized they were who I was going to put my money on and that was the best money I've ever spent! They were concise and clear. Responsive if I had a question. Called several days before to remind me/explain upcoming court proceedings. 3 days before my official day in court I received a call from Jeff. My heart pounding and guts twisting I answer the phone and Jeff gives me the news that he got the DA to completely DISMISS the probation violation! I was gratefully shocked! Finally all the tension and weight on my shoulders just disappeared. I have never felt this at ease. I sincerely hope this will be the last time I will ever need a lawyer but if I do, Jeff and Oscar will be the team I want on my side. Highly F-bomb recommended! My son first offense w four serious charges and it was a very emotional situation for my family. I appreciate all Mr. Eaves did for my son and my family. We are very pleased with the outcome because of the severity of this situation. We got the best outcome possible. Jeff is very quick on his respon...se in court to defend his client even in short notice . He takes his job serious and with pride.
