For Micah Adkins, being a lawyer is ultimately about helping people solve problems that are standing in the way of their lives.A native Texan, Micah grew up believing in the value of hard work, treating people well, and protecting something that can take a lifetime to build: a good name. That belief eventually became the foundation of his law practice.

Today, Micah represents people whose lives have been disrupted by identity theft, inaccurate credit reporting, and background report errors. His clients often come to The Adkins Firm frustrated and exhausted. They have tried to fix the problem themselves, followed the dispute process, made the phone calls, sent the letters—and the information is still wrong. Micah’s job is to help take that burden off their shoulders.

A Law Practice Built Around People

Micah’s practice focuses on federal litigation involving the Fair Credit Reporting Act “FCRA." Over the course of his career, he has litigated more than 200 individual cases to resolution in federal court and has represented millions of consumers through certified class actions in FCRA, data breach and discrimination cases.

But numbers tell only part of the story. Micah believes clients deserve a lawyer who understands that their case may be one of many matters handled by a law firm—but to the client, it may be one of the most important things happening in their life.

That philosophy shapes The Adkins Firm. The firm represents consumers in matters involving:

The firm also works with attorneys across the country through referrals, co-counsel relationships, local counsel arrangements and other professional collaborations.

Micah is regularly invited to speak about identity theft, consumer reporting and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. He has presented to legal and civic organizations including state and local bar associations, the National Association of Consumer Advocates, legal aid organizations, Rotary and Kiwanis organizations, and other civic organizations and professional groups.

Experience Matters

Micah earned his Bachelor of Science degree cum laude from the University of Texas at Dallas and his law degree from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University. He is licensed to practice law in Alabama, Tennessee, and Texas and is admitted to numerous United States District Courts and Courts of Appeals throughout the country.

Micah has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a Mid-South Super Lawyer from 2019 through 2026, following earlier recognition as a Rising Star. He was also repeatedly selected by his peers as one of Birmingham’s top consumer lawyers. In 2019, the California Lawyers Association awarded Micah the Wiley M. Manuel Certificate for offering for offering pro bono legal services related to his expertise on the FCRA to low-income individuals and not-for-profit organizations.

Those recognitions are appreciated. But Micah measures success differently. It’s the client who can finally move forward after months or years of fighting an error. It’s helping restore someone’s good name. It’s building a law firm where people genuinely care about the clients and about one another. And it’s creating relationships—with clients, colleagues, employees and referring attorneys—that continue long after a particular case is over.

Beyond the Law

Outside the office, Micah’s most important role is being a dad. He is a father and spends much of his life doing what parents everywhere do – juggling work, school schedules, sports, activities, travel and family life. He is an avid outdoorsman and sports fan who enjoys coaching, being outside, traveling, cheering on his kids and spending time with family and friends.

Micah works hard and expects a lot from himself and the people around him, but he also believes life should be enjoyed along the way. That philosophy carries into The Adkins Firm. Work hard. Take care of people. Solve problems. Keep your word. Have some fun along the way.
