Needs his license revoked

The lawyer, Daniel J. Smith of Jane Clark Law Office charged me $8,500 in six weeks time for my probate case, that I only went to court ONE time in two and a half months with, and still did not even get access into my deceased fathers townhouse. In that time, I did not even get my administration pape...rs or my surety bond with him. He even lied to me, and told me that that bond was not approved due to a "clerical error". Funny, because when I called the man who worked at the surety bond company he said that the bond was fine. Apparently he never called the surety company back. He lied to charge more of his exorbitant fees for absolutely minimal effort. He acts like he is working night and day on your case, and charges like he is a high-powered attorney. He is an absolute snake who preys on the weak. As if that isn't bad enough he chain-smokes in his office, as does his secretary Brenda and partner, Jane Clark. He constantly talked down to my mother and I, as if we are ignorant children and made us raise our hands to ask him a question, like we're in school! And said he "Is not going to be abused by our questions"! Isn't that what I'm paying you out the nose for? The last time I saw him as his appalling (dump) of an office, and told him I wanted to cap his fees, (note that I had ALREADY paid $8,500 in 6 weeks time) he started a scene in his office and had his secretary come in to take notes of our conversation, and accused us multiple time of "filing a claim against him" because we were sick of him and his bull**** fees! He is an idiot who did everything wrong on our last two cases, partially to make more money for himself, and partially because he just doesn't care. You are better off with a court-appointed attorney then this sorry excuse for one.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
