An attorney who did not respresent me at all, do not use him!

He did not inform me of what all I was entitled to. He did  not represent me, but seem to side with my spouse, you would think my spouse was paying him. I tried to get him to have a forensic CPA search for funds that were not being disclosed. I was told that was not necessary. There were pie...ces of the case that he had no idea how to handle. He did not fight for me, for things/funds that were clearly mine. I was misinformed, and uniformed through a process that I was relying on, an expert, or so I thought. Deplorable, unethical, and dishonest.

David Housel - Excellent Divorce/Family Law Attorney - Highly recommend

David was able to get my divorce settled within a month. He went through the steps that could be taken in my divorce and always got my permission before proceeding with anything. He took my case that I had with a previous attorney. David was able to contact my ex's attorney the next day and get th...e document filed to retain him as my attorney that next day as well. When I made my appointment he got me right in. He is very good at what he does and knows family law very well. Without David, I would have had papers that weren't up to date. He is current with family law and was there for me and answered any question I had that same day. I recommend David to anyone that is going through a divorce. He is very personable and gets the job done. He eliminated stress and I am a much happier person now. Thank you David for an amazing job! I will recommend him to anyone that is going through a divorce.

He represented me well and represented a friend with no problems at all

Going through the process of divorce is a game. All the attorneys know each other, the judges all know the attorneys, the mediators know all the attorneys, it is a big racket. So you as the customer of the attorney have to be in charge and take control of your case. You have to be an active part o...f your case management and if you don't, I can see where some people think that David could be unresponsive doesn't seem like he cares, etc. A divorce attorney is one of the hardest attorneys to be. I know to divorce attorneys personally and they both get calls all day and all night from people whining about every little thing and get upset when they do not get an immediate call back. Jane wants to call and complain that her ex-husband didn't return the baby bottle and baby blanket when he dropped the baby off and now she wants to go back to court. That is a kind of crappy deal with all day and all night. Phone messages, text messages, emails. They get all that all day I provided David with all the information he requested and I told them what direction I wanted to go. Each time a decision was to be made, David went over with me the possibilities and possible outcomes. Ultimately it was my decision on what to do, not David's. He just advised what the law was and options. If you don't take control of your divorce, it is your problem. The entire divorce process is extremely, extremely stressful and no one ever gets what they want. So I could see were if somebody had to pay $1000 a month child support and they thought they'd pay $300 a month, they could blame David. Or if he didn't fully explain why a certain motion had to be filed at a certain time, they think he was just filing just to make money. I worked with David on my case off and on for about three years and he assisted me on another matter as well and I will say he was extremely responsive. He contacted me at night, on the weekends whenever an emergency arose. No one likes paying for an attorney and unless your divorce is mutually agreed-upon with your spouse, it will cost you a lot of money. Get that into your head first. Any attorney is going to be expensive and David charges fairly reasonable hourly rates. You're going through divorce and you are going to have to pay, just suck it up. Provide your attorney with what information he needs, and if you have a question, politely ask him and don't call 20 times a day. I emailed my questions to David and he usually either called me or emailed me the answers back without unreasonable delays. Your divorce will have so many twists and turns he cannot guarantee anything, nor can any attorney. More than likely you will Indep at mediation and that will settle your case and it will never go in front of the judge. So the outcome is ultimately up to you and your spouse. Don't blame your attorney. My experiences with David went as expected and he help me through an extremely rough divorce. A friend of mine used him as well, after she fired her first attorney, and David took care of business. I have recommended David to other people and he has served me well and I would use him again. I have no real complaints. I think if you let David know your expectations and let him know you want to be more involved probably going the average person and you don't call him every 20 minutes wanted to know if status on something, he will represent you well. If you do not like The direction your case is going, you can fire him and Anytime and get a new attorney. Don't blame him how bad your divorce went if you're unhappy with the outcome. No one is ever happy with the outcome of their divorce. If you are in North Dallas County, Collin County or Denton County, David can represent you extremely well. He is respected and can be aggressive when needed.

A lot of good promises, but nothing but bad results. Not at all what you would want in an attorney.

He has done such a horrible job for me that I would have been better off representing myself. Because he did such a lousy job in representing and keeping me informed about my case, I had to go online to research the various things that even a first year law student should know. He is rude and arrog...ant and does his best to make you feel inferior and that you are disturbing him any time you interact with him about the case. Kept me in the dark completely. I was thinking that he would be my advocate but nothing is further from the truth. My case ended up horribly awry.

Relationship: Opposing Counsel on matter

"Mr. Housel and I worked together to help a couple of parents resolve their differences and put a good parenting plan in place. David advocated strongly for his client, but never let his own ego cause the case to blow up. He knew what was worth arguing about and what wasn't, and that is what distinguishes good attorneys from the rest. I look forward to working with David on other cases in the future."
