Do NOT recommend

Writing this review in an effort to help others. I would not recommend this lawyer. He failed me. He failed to accurately assess and communicate to the court my spouses income. I am now left with less child support for years to come. Important details were left out on documents on multiple occasions.... He even left former client names, addresses, children's names on my documents but then had no problem charging me for the time to create the documents. It was obvious these were direct pickups of other client documents. He arranged for my child to live in specific areas during the temporary orders then told me that I could not fight for the standard living arrangement that most people receive which is DFW and surrounding areas because I had already agreed to the specific areas during the temporary orders. He and his paralegal were very nice during initial and subsequent meetings. Both became rude later on after I signed on with them. One visit to the office while I was waiting, Mykah (his main paralegal) came to get me and greeted me by pointing her finger at me and yelled, "YOU, COME WITH ME."

Best Attorney in US - David Housel - Compassionate, Tenacious and driven for results

I was a victim of family violence. I had pretty much spent my last penny through "other" legal advise that took me no where. I was in fear when I arrived in his offices and moreover anything else, I wanted to know my rights as a single mom, for my child and myself. In comes our hero.... "David Hou...sel". Ladies...the best professional legal advice that exists for families, parents and children. You are safe with David Housel! A little secret about Mr. David Housel. He was raised by a single mom. It doesn't hit closer to home than this, alluding to this is truly David Housel's passion. David is 150% committed to you, rapid response time, immediate attention, and impeccable follow-through. Far above and beyond expected and forever grateful meeting and engaging David Housel. I knew I had someone who cared, was consultative in guidance and moreover anything else, listened and advised. David is not "money" driven....please never mistake this for the services rendered by he or his firm. Money is the least of his drive. Everything is workable and negotiable and remove focus from that equation. Make no mistake in that it really does not matter what he charges....he is worth every penny and really so much more. He changed our lives. We have a settled child support amount, my needed terms in visitation and moreover anything; we feel protected by being educated on our rights and thank you to David Housel we feel safe again! I continue to call upon David for all of my legal advise and will be forever grateful to you Mr. David Housel....

Strong attorney who will fight for his clients

Mr. Housel worked to do everything he could that was in the best interest of my child. He is extremely knowledgeable with regards to Family Law. He has steered me in the right directions with when dealing with custody and child support by advising when to give and when to hold firm. I initially... hired Mr. Housel 3 year ago when looking to have my custody agreement revised. This was the best decision I made with regards to fighting custody rights and support. I continue to work with him whenever adjustments are needed. I would recommend Mr. Housel to anyone looking for a strong attorney that will fight for them.

He represented me well and represented a friend with no problems at all

Going through the process of divorce is a game. All the attorneys know each other, the judges all know the attorneys, the mediators know all the attorneys, it is a big racket. So you as the customer of the attorney have to be in charge and take control of your case. You have to be an active part o...f your case management and if you don't, I can see where some people think that David could be unresponsive doesn't seem like he cares, etc. A divorce attorney is one of the hardest attorneys to be. I know to divorce attorneys personally and they both get calls all day and all night from people whining about every little thing and get upset when they do not get an immediate call back. Jane wants to call and complain that her ex-husband didn't return the baby bottle and baby blanket when he dropped the baby off and now she wants to go back to court. That is a kind of crappy deal with all day and all night. Phone messages, text messages, emails. They get all that all day I provided David with all the information he requested and I told them what direction I wanted to go. Each time a decision was to be made, David went over with me the possibilities and possible outcomes. Ultimately it was my decision on what to do, not David's. He just advised what the law was and options. If you don't take control of your divorce, it is your problem. The entire divorce process is extremely, extremely stressful and no one ever gets what they want. So I could see were if somebody had to pay $1000 a month child support and they thought they'd pay $300 a month, they could blame David. Or if he didn't fully explain why a certain motion had to be filed at a certain time, they think he was just filing just to make money. I worked with David on my case off and on for about three years and he assisted me on another matter as well and I will say he was extremely responsive. He contacted me at night, on the weekends whenever an emergency arose. No one likes paying for an attorney and unless your divorce is mutually agreed-upon with your spouse, it will cost you a lot of money. Get that into your head first. Any attorney is going to be expensive and David charges fairly reasonable hourly rates. You're going through divorce and you are going to have to pay, just suck it up. Provide your attorney with what information he needs, and if you have a question, politely ask him and don't call 20 times a day. I emailed my questions to David and he usually either called me or emailed me the answers back without unreasonable delays. Your divorce will have so many twists and turns he cannot guarantee anything, nor can any attorney. More than likely you will Indep at mediation and that will settle your case and it will never go in front of the judge. So the outcome is ultimately up to you and your spouse. Don't blame your attorney. My experiences with David went as expected and he help me through an extremely rough divorce. A friend of mine used him as well, after she fired her first attorney, and David took care of business. I have recommended David to other people and he has served me well and I would use him again. I have no real complaints. I think if you let David know your expectations and let him know you want to be more involved probably going the average person and you don't call him every 20 minutes wanted to know if status on something, he will represent you well. If you do not like The direction your case is going, you can fire him and Anytime and get a new attorney. Don't blame him how bad your divorce went if you're unhappy with the outcome. No one is ever happy with the outcome of their divorce. If you are in North Dallas County, Collin County or Denton County, David can represent you extremely well. He is respected and can be aggressive when needed.

Relationship: Opposing Counsel on matter

"Mr. Housel and I worked together to help a couple of parents resolve their differences and put a good parenting plan in place. David advocated strongly for his client, but never let his own ego cause the case to blow up. He knew what was worth arguing about and what wasn't, and that is what distinguishes good attorneys from the rest. I look forward to working with David on other cases in the future."
