Biography
John R. Colbert is the founder of Colbert Cooper Hill Attorneys and has represented injured and disabled Oklahomans since 1990. During more than 35 years of practice, John has handled personal injury, wrongful death, workers’ compensation, social security and appellate matters throughout Oklahoma.
John has prosecuted or defended more than 100 appeals before the Oklahoma Supreme Court and Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals. His appellate work includes significant decisions addressing injured workers’ rights, meaningful judicial review, enforcement of statutory protections and access to benefits. Among the reported decisions he has handled are Bober v. Oklahoma State University, Mullendore v. Mercy Hospital Ardmore, Dunkin v. Instaff Personnel and Minyard v. Halliburton Energy Services.
A native of Sulphur, Oklahoma, John earned both his undergraduate degree and law degree from the University of Oklahoma. He is the son of the Honorable George Dixie Colbert, who served as a judge in southern Oklahoma for 26 years. That family tradition of public service helped shape John’s commitment to careful preparation, determined advocacy and compassionate representation.
