Added stress to an already stressful situation.

Julie McCarver handled my divorce in 2016. A retainer was paid and the case was started. Total time to become legally divorced was only 4 months. This isn't bad in most circles but I ended up being the one that did most of the negotiating to settle the divorce which I felt like was not my place. Thin...gs started fine with Julie but soon she became very difficult to reach my myself and the opposing counsel. Of course anytime I would contact her to ask her questions or let her know the opposing counsel had sent her offers or correspondents it would just cost me more money. By the time the divorce was coming to an end I felt like I had made a major err in judgment hiring Mrs. McCarver. I often felt as if she was wanting to not settle the divorce outside of the courtroom. I couldn't imagine how terrible going in front of a judge would have been. I was legally divorced in 7/2016. In April of 2018 I just received a bill from McCarver Law for another $411.35. So even almost 2 years later the headache of dealing with this law office continues. Of course I will pay the bill to hopefully end this unpleasant experience overall. Be cautious if selecting this office.

Dear Kevin, I am sorry to hear that you feel you had a negative experience at my office. Time: After reviewing casenet, it looks like your case took 3.5 months between the initial filing and efiling of the settlement documents. In light of the fact that there was another attorney involved, I think your case was completed very quickly. Communication: From my records, I see that we had approximately 29 communications, to and from each other, in person, by telephone, by letter and by email during the 3.5 months your case was pending. I am sorry that you feel our communication was lacking. Please contact my office so we may discuss how our office could do a better job in this department. Settlement: I drafted the settlement documents in this matter rather than the other attorney doing so, as I very much wanted to complete your case in the way that you desired for it to be completed. I apologize if your impression was different than this, as I did not intend this. It is my general procedure to settle cases if this is what my clients desire, but at the same time I am also always willing to fight it out at Trial. Billing: My office has been trying to contact you regarding this issue for seven (7) months. Please feel to contact me directly so we can review your billing together. Again, I apologize for your negative experience, and I appreciate your feedback. Thank You, Julie Huffman McCarver

If she wasn't an attorney, she would have been a great MMA fighter. Bulldog McCarver

In general, I'm not a very big fan of attorneys and I pretty much believe that they deserve every bad joke that's ever been told about them. Julie has been my attorney for several years now and I can honestly say that I've never once felt that she falls into that category. She is an excellent attorne...y, but just as important to me, she is also a good person and she has a good heart. Julie has several qualities that I admire in a person and they carry over to her professional work. Among her best qualities is that she has a strong sense of what is right and what is wrong. Too many attorneys will gladly disregard all ethics and morals in order to chase a buck. I would never believe that Julie would do that. She knows what is right and she always takes the higher road. Along with that, Julie is one of the most tenacious people I know. When she believes in something, she is like a bulldog. She absolutely will not give in. Those two qualities combined make for an excellent attorney. My case is an ongoing affair with an ex who has nothing better to do than to cause problems for me. Julie has ALWAYS been there for me throughout the never ending drama. She is never too busy to help me, she has offered me advice more times than I can count, and on some occasions when I was ready to give up, she has even been the rock that has steadied me and gave me the strength to keep going. She has more than once given me advice that ended up leading to a better outcome for me, but less money for her. That is integrity and it is very much appreciated. If she were not my attorney, I would be honored to call her my friend. We've had many successes together and we've also had a few setbacks along the way too. I've received more than one scoldings from her, she doesn't always agree with me, and a couple times things did not go our way, but never once did I doubt my choice, her ability, or her dedication to my case. I've always appreciated Julie's honesty and because of it, I always know where I stand so I am able to make the best decisions for my case. Julie has my full confidence and I intend to keep her as my attorney until either my ex straightens her act out or hell freezes over, whichever comes first.

Incorrect billing practices...beware.

I had originally contacted her husband to be my divorce attorney. He took a position as a judge in Farmington and I was forced into using Julie. Mrs. McCarver is a sub-par attorney at best. She took my case and drug it out way longer then it needed to be. She never kept me informed of what was going ...on in my case unless I called her and asked. Then she billed me for listening or reading my emails asking her for an update on my case when she had failed to do her job. I understand I am was not her only client but weeks would go by with no contact from her office unless prompted by me. She was very unprofessional when I told her I disagreed with her billing techniques she basically told me that it is what it is and I needed to pay her in full. I refused to pay her until she corrected the bill. She sent me to collections and when her attorney contacted me we had this resolved in two phone calls. I paid exactly what I thought I should have paid when the case was complete and the billing was corrected not the incorrect bill she was claiming. I immediately paid her and am glad to be rid of her and the whole situation. I wouldn't recommend her just for this primary reason and if you do hire her keep track of all your phone calls and emails with her as she will try and over-bill you for services not rendered. If you do choose to use her and she does this to you I would recommend contacting the Attorney General.

Great Attorney!!!

I have used this attorney more than once for my divorce, modification and contempt cases and she has been consistently great. She worked very hard for the result that I wanted and was always available to communicate with me. I would absolutely recommend her to anybody going through a divorce or cus...tody case!
