A kind, knowledgeablewoman

I needed legal advice for a divorce. Ms. Carter was highly recommended by a lawyer friend, and I contacted her. At the initial meeting, and several subsequent meetings, Marjorie laid out the process of divorcing. She indicated her specialization in cases where couples who can negotiate a settlement w...ithout acrimony, thus avoiding court involvement and expensive legal teams. for our situation, Marjorie detailed a fair settlement. My now ex-wife failed on the acrimony measure, and I was forced to end my formal relationship with Marjorie and to hire an aforementioned expensive law firm. After months of wrangling through our different law firms, my ex and I agreed on a settlement and were divorced. Nonetheless, I kept in contact with Marjorie throughout the process and provided insightful advice and, as important, comforting words of encouragement. As Marjorie had predicted, that settlement was precisely the one she had laid out in those early meetings, except I had a large payment to the litigating law firm. I highly recommend Ms. Carter as a fine lawyer and a good person.

Great, Thank You!

I worked with Marjorie for nearly a year during a divorce. From the very beginning she made me feel comfortable and made sure I understood each step of the process, throughout. I would highly recommend her for both her professionalism and her warm, friendly demeanor.

Peerless in specialty, but ill suited outside of her niche

Marjorie is a practitioner in the collaborative practice of marital separation, and I have every reason to believe she is pre-eminent in that niche. Outside of it, when opposing counsel is a litigator at heart, she is wholly unsuited for the task. This makes sense, as proficiency in collaborative d...issolution demands entirely different skills and sensibilities than litigation, which is adversarial and position based. For the sake of all parties involved I would recommend that the collaborative approach be attempted first as I believe it to be the most humane approach to a difficult decision, and I believe Marjorie to be peerless in that field. That said, if the other side of the dissolution does not wholly agree in the collaborative approach, you will need to transfer counsel immediately, otherwise you are wasting time and money, a lot of money.

Collaborative Divorce

I worked through Marjorie in a collaborative divorce and 4000 words is not enough to explain all of my positive experiences. Marjorie is hardworking, well informed, supportive and definitely practices what she preaches. I would absolutely recommend her services and advice to anyone.

Marjorie Carter is a true professional.

Marjorie Carter is a true professional. Marjorie represented me during my dissolution of marriage proceedings. She provided easy to understand explanations of the law and how it applies or does not apply to my situation. Marjorie was instrumental in guiding me through this taxing emotional time and... process in a way in which I truly felt was fair for all parties involved. This was not about hurting or teaching a lesson, it was a tribute to the preservation of family with the emotional well being of my children always in the forefront. Marjorie is always prompt in returning calls and emails and is great in following through with me to ensure I'm comfortable with where we are and to ensure I know where we were headed. I highly recommend Marjorie Carter.
