I hired Mr. Khwaja to defend me in my foreclosure case. At that time I was feeling hopeless and that I had no chance of preventing the bank from getting a judgment against me and taking my home. Four years of a high conflict divorce, going to court ever month. Sometimes twice a month. I’ve seen my share of good and bad attorneys. My case was extraordinarily difficult and terribly damaging to my family, my business associates and myself. My ex wife who is mentally ill forced the property that... was purchased as a college fund for my children into foreclosure as a form retaliation for my children telling the judge of the abuse sustained at the hands of her and my ex mother in law. Knowing my ex wife’s thought pattern I knew she’d seek revenge against our children for telling on her and she’d stop payment on their two flat. Since early on in the divorce my ex had a court order removing me as an authorized person on the account for that property. I was left with no way to communicate with the mortgage company to rectify any situations on my own. His outright refusal to do anything for the $7,500 he collected landed this property not only in foreclosure but let it go to the point that a judgement for sale was entered. Never notifying me of the situation and giving me the brush off the entire time I asked for an update. Completely keeping me in the dark. And when I confronted him about it after it went to judgment for sale; two years later, he excused me of being negligent, even tried to strong arm me. He said there is nothing he could do. He told me to give him another $5,000 and he could keep it going another six months but I was going to lose the property no matter what. Then he started telling me how I really don’t want the property anyway. I told him I had given him $7,500 to protect the property and he literally did nothing. He told me if I wanted a bill, he’d give me one but then I’d have to pay him even more. The entire situation was horrible. He took advantage of my good nature and the terrible position I was in and pretty much extorted me. Then he left me hanging I’m a worse situation than if I never hired him at all, only With $7,500 less. That night with tears in my eyes I told my kids I didn’t think I’d be able to save theIr building. The next day feeling hopeless, I reached out to a friend and was given a referral from their attorney for an attorney who specializes in foreclosure litigation. After talking to her I was then again disappointed that she was too busy to take my case. In reality I think she just didn’t want it. Because my case is so complicated.
