Great lawyer

Vince was a great lawyer!!! Showed up to every court date I had and never once took advantage of my money or stole from me. I think your all nuts.

Unprofessional lack of performance

My husband and I hired O'Brien to help us with a family matter. Unlike others we had to pay 1500 even before he would start working on our case. We came up with the money but never received any evidence thus far that he was actually working on the case. He sent us blank form to sign and return. After... numerous calls and numerous emails that went unnoticed we began to look at our options and reported him to the Illinois Board of Lawyers. They apparently know him very well many cases in front of ours. Long story short he will not provide you with any services. What he will do is take your money, talk to you abusively and his secretary she's just as bad. Go somewhere else save yourself a lot of bs.

BEWARE

I was a paying client of this attorney. He did things in court and did not disclose. Did not sent documents to us when he filed. He collected funds from us after he removed himself from the case and put a non experienced attorney in his place and did not notify us! We almost lost our home of a 1/...4 century! BEWARE!!!!

Review

When you call the Illinois Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission and give a lawyer's name you should immediately know he is trouble when they know his reputation by heart. Following an accident involving my wife, we employed Vincent O'Brien to file a lawsuit for damages against the party... we believed to be at fault. Mr. O'Brien agreed to take the case for 33.3% of any award, plus court fees. Mr. O'Brien had the citation thrown out of court and won an award. Shortly after the award was declared, Mr. O'Brien negotiated on our behalf to settle any liens placed on the award by doctors and insurance companies that we owed as a result of treatment from the accident. We received our share in the form of a check written out of Mr. O'Brien's account upon signing the award check. Mr. O'Brien was then, according to our agreement, to those with liens on the award their shares. We have been contacted over the past year on regular occasion by those agencies. Both state that they never received the payments Mr. O'Brien negotiated with them directly. Both also state Mr. O'Brien is no longer responding to them. As a result, my wife's credit rating has taken a hit for the unpaid debts.

Very unprofessional

I hired Mr. O'Brien to defend me in a criminal matter. To make a long story short, I did most of the work. He was very unprofessional and verbally abusive to me. He also promised that after the criminal case, he would take my civil case against the Police Department who arrested me. He did not do ...this. He simply blew me off after the case was over and I was found not-guilty.. He also promised that he would obtain Criminal Records (for two individuals) from the state for me. He had said at the beginning of my case that he requested them, but was waiting on the State to send these Criminal Records. After my case was over and I was found not-guilty, I again asked for the Criminal Back grounds on the two individuals which I requested. Mr. O'Brien, then asked me to send him a a check to pay for them. I sent the check. I called a couple of weeks later to see if he had received the check. His secretary said yes. He then called and said he wasn't going to get these records for me. He said I was verbally abusive to his secretary. Another words, he lied to me. He never requested these records from the State. I would never recommend Mr. O'Brien to anyone. He is very rude and inconsiderate. I was very distraught with what had happened to me. I have never been arrested in my entire life. This was an easy case, and I was confident that I would be found not-guilty. As I stated before, I gathered the evidence to clear myself. On the day of my Trial, I asked Mr. O'Brien what he thought about what was going to happen and how did he feel about my situation. His response was, "What do you mean how do I feel." He was very mean to me! He should be ashamed of himself. Again, don't ever retain him to represent you. He's not only a bad Attorney, but a horrible uncaring person.
