I was most fortunate that Mr. Stephens served as my attorney in a civil matter involving CPS. He actually rescued my case, kept it viable and on track, when my original attorney passed away unexpectedly. Mr. Stephens spent numerous hours with me patiently putting the pieces of my case back together, going over boxes of documents ... and on occasions meeting with me on Saturdays. Steve Richards has represented me for nearly four years in a highly complex and politically-charged 1st Amendment case that has exposed the underbelly of the DuPage County Republican machine, which permeates & infects law enforcement, the prosecutor's office and the judiciary. Our son was facing charges of first degree attempted murder which carries minimum jail time of 31 years. The case was tried in July of 2018 and Mr. Richards achieved the best possible outcome possible in our eyes which was reckless discharge. In the interim Mr. Richards was able to present the initial facts of the case which resulted in an 80% bond reduction, allowing us to bring our son home. At the conclusion of the case during sentencing, Mr. Richards presented a very compelling recommendation to the judge for probation which the judge agreed to. Mr. Richards was responsive to our emails, phone calls, and questions related to the case. Hopefully you never find yourself in such an awful situation, but if you do and need a lawyer who is knowledgeable, fair, and experienced, he is your attorney.

Mr. Richards was a great lawyer! He did everything he could to make sure my case was handled in the most beneficial way. I did not have any prior convictions and he stressed the importance of that. He was able to get me the best/ most appropriate deal for the situation. He was very helpful when it came to any questions I had. He was wonderful, especially being a far distance from me, he made sure to keep in contact throughout the case and to give me updates all the way through. He has also been there to help with any issues or questions I have when I comes to my supervision. He has been willing to help and very knowledgeable. If it weren't for his diligence, my case could have gone completely different. I'm very thankful for all of his hard work and understanding.

I was sentenced to 31 year's in jail I hired Mr Richards to do my appeal he came to the prison i was in for 4 year's to check on me and to let me know about my case but the most important thing was Mr Richards gave me hope and now I'm at home with my family living a wonderful life if it wasn't for Mr Richards I would be doing 31 year's I love you Mr Richards thank you

Mr Richards gave me back the life someone tried to take away and gave me a better one as well. It took 43months if well worth waiting because he took his time to study and become one with the case in my opinion. In trial he performed with an iron fist! His cross examination game was on point he didn’t miss a beat.
