I was wrongfully advised by an immigration lawyer to expunge my criminal record that consisted of a drug related charge in order to apply for residency. My wife and I quickly found out this was not true and were referred by two different lawyers (who did not know one another) to contact Mr. Minkus. We were without hope and filled with stress. After meeting with Mr. Minkus we retained his services immediately. We had an idea about how much his services would cost (and although it took about a year to be able to) we came prepared. It was worth it. He informed us how much more difficult our case is because we expunged the records. He was honest right from the beginning and actually cared. He didn't disregard our stress and anxieties like most lawyers we met with. Throughout the whole process we never had any difficulty getting in touch with him and he updated me every step of the way. Although our chances were slim to none in getting a favorable outcome- he did it. Thanks to him and his hard work we now have hope that I can become a resident of this country and can take the next steps to do so. As the decision was finalized the judge made sure I knew... "You have yourself a good lawyer here." I will recommend, and do recommend, everyone who needs hope to Mr. Minkus.

I was sent to Mr. Minkus by my immigration lawyer because i had a DUI on my record. Because of this DUI Icould not try and become a citizen. He explained to me what he would try and do and eventually he was able to change my DUI to a different charge and my immigration lawyer now told me that nothing now prevents me from being citizen. He charges a lot of money but he did a great job.

recently hired attorney Jonathan Minkus for representation on a pending case in Lake County. Prior to calling Jonathan in my distress, I had called a few different lawyers and to be perfectly honest... the majority of them gave me little to no hope. Several informed me that frankly due to the severity of my charges they were doubtful that they could do much to help me in this case.
My case was in fact pretty severe as I had been driving on a revoked license for prior DUI offenses. That revocation happened more than a decade ago. Since that time a lot had changed including my current sobriety. However, the law is the law and I had been caught without a valid Driver’s License. I called Jonathan in desperation, a friend had recommended him. My wife Joanna and I called on a Saturday and he was out golfing as I remember, but answered the phone. I remember he told me that he could meet me the following day. “It’s Sunday?” I said, he simply said “I know you’ve got a pretty severe case here, I like the sound of your voice and I would like to meet and talk with you.” We meet Jonathan that next Sunday at his office in Skokie. What struck me about Jonathan was his direct approach and the sense of urgency in which he started to make things happen. He told me that he couldn’t promise anything and that the charges were in fact extremely severe and that he had been around for a long time (30yrs.) “All we can do is go for it and hope for the best”.He then stated that he would be honored to take my case if I decided to chose him to represent me. Honored to take my case? I thought.
I hired him and at some point shortly after our first court date together my anxiety started to come down. Jonathan made us feel at ease.
A few things about Jonathan that I learned a along the way. He values his client, he values his time and he tells you only exactly what you need to know, when it is pertinent to your case.
I learned a lot about patience and my wife and I put our faith in him because we knew he was going to do what he could to represent me. The outcome was incredibly favorable and I will always be grateful of the service Jonathan provided. Jonathan Minkus is exceptional. With poise and confidence he manages to make no promises and at the same time make the client feel like they are in the best hands. It’s hard to find people that you feel are honest with you and that are willing to take risk for reward, I recommend Jonathan Minkus.

I almost never write reviews and when Mr. Minkus just finished representing my brother and I looked for him online I felt like I had to write this. Yes, he is not the cheapest lawyer around but he did exactly what he said he would do. My brother was being deported and we were sent to Mr. Minkus to try and fix his criminal record. From the moment we met with Mr. Minkus we felt completely comfortable with him. He gave us a good idea of how long the process would take and what it would cost and he actually finished it in less time and did it for he told us it would cost. He also was completely successful. Our entire family very highly recommends him.

Jonathon Minkus was hired to represent me a few years back. His retainer fee was 5K. The first month seemed to go smoothly..but I soon found it very difficult to obtain a response from Mr. Minkus and it became very frustrating at times. In addition, there were multiple occasions Mr. Minkus failed to appear in court on my behalf, and the case was continued. I was not informed. Prior to my retainer being exhausted, Mr. Minkus demanded an additional 5K to continue representation. Shortly after my case had been decided, I was made aware that Mr. Minkus shared my confidential information with an inappropriate individual.
Overall, I found Mr. Minkus to be extremely unprofessional in his conduct. I very strongly do not recommend hiring Jonathon Minkus.

I hired Mr. Minkus a month ago after a convoluted incident that left me with criminal trespass and criminal damage to property, possibly pending a burglary charge. The confessions I had written and the police notes that were taken while I was in custody painted a very bad portrait of me and the system likely would have given me a severe sentence if not for Mr. Minkus. He was able to negotiate with the ASA assigned to my case and ultimately the criminal damage to property charge was dropped and I was given a very lenient supervision sentence, allowing me to expunge it by July of next year. This man has done more than I can ever imagine to help me and I am extremely grateful for his work. I would recommend him to anyone who's in trouble with the law and needs a lawyer who can go above and beyond what he's asked to do.

We hired Mr. Minkus because I had a record for domestic battery that made it so I could not become a citizen. We were sent to him by our immigration lawyer. i am righting this review because before we hired him my wife saw the reviews here and that was not our expereince with him at all. He got my conviction erased and did everything we wanted him to do. He charged us more than othjer lawyers but in the end we could not be any happyier. He is a very good lawyer.

Very good and knowledgeable attorney who was able to have my case dismissed before trial. He felt we had a good case, and was able to convince the state attorney that there was no basis for the charges.
He was quick to respond to my questions, and very responsive.

I retained Mr. Minkus to represent me on an immigration related criminal matter. He was referred to me by my immigration attorney. As a result of his actions I was able to get a prior criminal conviction vacated and put an end to efforts to throw me out of the country. He did a great job.

I am a current client of Atty Jonathan Minkus. He asked for $5k so he can represent me. He promised that he will do anything to get my driver's license back and that he won all his case. After he received the money, he was very hard to reach. I got a letter from Sec of State that my license is being suspended. Now he's asking for another $1k so we can request another hearing. The first time we met he only spent not more than 30minutes at the driver's facility and he disappeared. I don't recommend him because I thought he didn't do a good job at all. I just wasted my money for nothing.
