Marc Scott Berris

Mr. Berris represented me for two separate cases, the first time for a DWI defense and then a few years later for a driver license cancellation challenge. For the first offense, I was grateful for his expertise and negotiating a very favorable outcome on a guilty plea. What was almost an inevitable 6...0-day stay in the Plymouth work house, turned into a 90-day electronic home confinement and daily breath monitor… On the second charge, we effectively sued the State of Minnesota with a bench trial in my home town (I lived in a County seat) — and I testified for 50 minutes before Mr. Berris, a deputy State Attorney and a District Judge… Mr. Berris did such a great job in the proceedings, that a few weeks later the judge ruled to dismiss the charge and grant me immediate reinstatement of my driver license. I recently used Marc Berris for a DWI case. He was really great. My last lawyer sent a different lawyer to court with me and had his legal assistant call me when I left messages for him. When I was arrested a close friend gave me Marc Berris' name. Though my friend had not used him personally, he had heard him speak when he was a student and remembered him several years later. I am glad he did. Marc was able to meet with me almost immediately, and we spent a lot of time talking ...about what had occurred and what could be done to make the situation better. Marc didn't pressure me to hire him, and I actually took the time to meet with two other lawyers. After doing so I knew that Marc was the right choice. One of the other lawyers actually gave me totally incorrect information, and the other was trying to rush me out the door almost the minute I got to his office. We made several court appearances and Marc checked in with me before each one. When he received all of the police reports he sent me a copy and then met with me to discuss the ways that they were accurate, the ways they weren't, and what our best course of action would be. At every step Marc made me feel like his only client, though I know I was far from it. When I left messages for Marc they were returned the very same day, every time, without exception. In the end, the outcome was better than I had expected. Marc even sent me a note to thank me for my business. I have sent a few people to Marc since then, and every single one has been as pleased with him as was I. I retained Marc to represent my adult son in a criminal matter. My son has battled depression and anxiety, and a lawyer who had represented him in the past showed absolutely no compassion for or patience with my son. Marc could not have been more different!
